What building to stay in at Pop Century?

Hello
I made reservations this morning for Pop Century from 8/1 to 8/8, 2013.
I thought it would be nice to stay close to the pool so I got a preferred pool view room. After reading some stories here I don't think it's such a good idea. We have a 9yr old and a baby that will be 23 months when we go on our trip. I'm worried that there will be too many people in the pool making noise and that the nightly movie will be too loud. So my question is, which building will be the best for us? not too far from the pool but quiet enough for the baby.
Thanks

I think most of the preferred rooms are facing the main pool. You might want to just go with a standard room but ask for lakeview in the 60's buildings. That puts you on the backside of the same buildings that face the pool. However, the movie is not a problem. It is set up on one of those inflatable screens right outside the back door of the food court, so really not right by any rooms at all.

Here is a link to a great thread all about Pop and the first couple of entries have maps etc. for preferred vs standard etc.

We like to stay in building 9 as close to the rubik's stairwell on the right (if looking at the map) as we can get. It is a very short walk to the buses.

Thanks for the replies ladies. This will be our first trip with the baby so I'm thinking more about him. My daughter isn't a light sleeper and she would probably be watching the movie. On the other hand I'm a light sleeper so any noise drives me crazy, lol.
I will certainly head on over to the Pop Century board and take a look at the info.

I have been reading that I can request certain building, is this true? Do I just call up the reservation dept? When I booked this morning it didn't ask me for any preferences. I would also like to request a crib for the baby.

Thanks agin

You just call and add your requests to your reservation. Just know that there are no guarantees, but they try to accommodate you as best they can.

There are are preferred rooms that are not facing the pool or are in the 70's where there is not a pool. If you want one that might be quieter, but still preferred, I would suggest asking for 60's non-pool view or 70's. When I stayed at Pop, I did not make any requests for my standard room. In hindsight, I should have requested 70's lakeside that trip since my sister required more down time than I expected. We were in 50's facing the parking lot so we heard everyone walking from the parking lot towards the building and they were usually quite loud at night.

I've stayed at POP 3 times and the quietest area was when we stayed in the 70s lakeview.

We've stayed at Pop twice. Once was a lakeview in the 60's. Loved this location. Very close to everything, but also quiet. We've also stayed in the 50's, which was a bit of a walk to everything, but even quieter.

Thanks for the info. So anything lake view will be quiet. Once I'm able to check in online I can request my room location right, or can I do that before?
Will the room be too tight with the crib?

We have stayed at POP 4 times - Our quietest stay was in the 60's (Jungle Book side) - facing the lake. PERFECT location.
Our LOUDEST ( and I do mean loud) stay was in 90's building 8 facing the pool. That pool was jumping-crazy loud until all hours of the night. Even after midnight the pool was full of screaming swimmers. :worried:

As smitch425 suggested, your best bet is to call and have any room requests added to your reservation. It's a tried and tested method.

I agree! It is close to the buses and the main building, it was an ideal location. Plus the computer pool is right there and it is usually very quiet.
