What Budget Software?

Hi!

I am helping someone develop a budget system. She is completely ignorant of budgeting and only "ok" on the computer. However, she needs to get away from the constant "lists" she makes with bills to be paid. There is no future planning at all.

I'm wondering if anyone uses an easy online or downloadable software program. If so, what do you like about it?

Hi! Good for you helping out your friend. The site we (my fiance & I) use is mint.com and it's really easy to use. You can link all your bank accounts, loans, 401k, etc to it.

My fiance has a finance blog and he actually did a couple reviews of the site, if you'd like more information.

I use YNAB Pro, which is it's own program, but the site also sells an excel version too. The website is www.youneedabudget.com. (I'm heading off to bed, but if you do a search for YNAB, you'll see my many posts about it...)

I totally need some sort of system as well, I even used (don't laugh) Budgets for Dummies, and the software wouldn't let me alter my paychecks...since they vary week to week, it didn't really help me that much.

Thanks, guys! I took a look at You Need A Budget and it looks really interesting. I think she might be able to better understand the envelope system. I'll also take a look at mint.com.
