Nancy - I am still holding out. I just started "Miss Julia throws a wedding" by Ann B. Ross (the 3rd in the Miss Julia series). I was really tempted by that bright lime green cover though.

I love that show. I have to tackle my kitchen as soon as we get back from Disney. I just don't have the time or energy for it right now.
I think the book you have mentioned is 'Fall on Your Knees' (Anne-Marie McDonald.) I didn't enjoy it. Out of all the Oprah picks my favourites were 'Stones from the River' (author ?), 'I Know this Much is True' (Wally Lamb), and 'The Poisonwood Bible' (Barbara Kingsolver)
