oh and have you read the twilight series. its the only thing i can think of right now because i just watched a special on the author.

I was just thinking that!! I DID read the first book and liked it. Would it look strange to be in my 40's and reading that series???

ahhh..this forum is full of people who are young at heart.
read them!!

If you like mysteries Mary Higgins Clark and Mary Jane Clark are authors that I always read. For light, fun reading I also like Joanna Fluke and Rita Mae Brown.

Im currently flying through James Patterson Sail
taking another one of his with me for the plane

and a Word Search for when I dont want to get too involved in anything

I agree 100% on the twilight series, it is very good. I couldn't stop reading it. and I am in my thirties!
also try James Patterson's Women's Murder Club. Very Good. best JP.

There is nothing better than Tess Gerritsen or Karin Slaughter for great murder mystery!

I love Tess Gerritsen, Lisa Gardner and Lisa Jackson. Philip Margolin writes a good lawyer/mystery story. I like the Catherine Coulter FBI series too. My favorite books of all time are the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series. They make me laugh out loud! All I do in my spare time is read!!!!

I think we're twins separated at birth!:rotfl: LOVE, love, love Janet Evanovich books, as well as all the other authors you listed.

I can add Stuart Woods, Kathy Reichs, Tami Hoag, Patricia Cornwell and J.A. Jance.

I am an avid reader. Excuse me for sounding dumb - by what is the Twilight Series? Am anxious to check it out!

I love James Patterson and don't travel much without packing one of his books. Easy to do since it seems he has a new book coming out every other month lately. :)

I enjoy reading anything by Mariah Stewart. Her books were FBI crime stories/love stories. Nothing gory or graphic though.

The Twilight series is a set of books by Stephenie Meyer about a girl who moves to a small town in Washington state and falls in love with a vampire. It's kind of a teen romance "Romeo & Juliet" type of story but with a lot of mystical elements. I read them, and didn't quite get all the hype over them, but they were decent and easy/quick reads for me. Personally I found the first three to be good, but the last I thought was awful.

I'm not much of a mystery reader, but I have read a lot of Mary Higgins Clark books and found them all interesting reads. And if you're looking for something different like I was recently (I had read WAY too many John Saul books!), try something by Jodi Picoult. I've only read a couple of her books (Keeping Faith, and My Sister's Keeper - both excellent reads!), but the descriptions of her other novels look really interesting. And I also recently finished The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory, which was FANTASTIC. I have another of her books, The Constant Princess, ready to read next on our plane ride to Vegas next weekend. :-D

I was finishing the Twilight saga so I had "Breaking Dawn" with me. To me summer equals chick lit or young adult lit. Frivolous fun reading for me during the summer because the the rest of the year is all about correcting student papers and re-reading the classics! :teacher: Also nothing beats a few magazines.
