I just finished "Killer Instinct" by Joseph Finder. It was a real page-turner and if you like mysteries, a definite must-read. I'm now going to finish "Heat," a book by Bill Buford. I started it a couple of weeks ago and made the mistake of reading chapter one of "Killer Instinct." :)

I read that a couple of weeks ago! I enjoyed it.

Right now I'm reading Crisis by Robin Cook. So far, so good.

Just to preface this: I'm a librarian and I read a lot! Lately it has been a book every day or so and I'm usually reading more than one book at the same time.

I just read the new Christopher Moore book; A Dirty Job. It was sooo funny. Moore is the reigning king of satire, IMHO. Moore has characters that pop up in each of his novels. I like seeing recurring characters in different cicrumstances. It's not a series, but his own little world. Humor, a little bit of fantasy, and a lot of well-developed characters.

I also recently read A Small Death in Lisbon by Robert Wilson. It is not new, but recently had a jump in popularity at a local book seller. It is a really good, very smart mystery. If you like mysteries, you have to read this! I think it won a Golden Dagger award awhile back. It is a page turner and really well done.

I read Heat, too! I really liked it.

Currently, I'm readying Elements of Style by Wendy Wasserstein. No, it is not the style and mechanics book of the same title (although I highly recommend the illustrated version of that one!). This is about modern New York society in a post 9/11 world and is about old money, new money, the glamour and the desperate to be all of the above. I can't decide if I like it yet...

I'm also working on Heavy Words Lightly Thrown (the author escapes me right now.) It traces the (rather dark and disturbing) origins of nursery rhymes and fairy tales. Very enlightening and fun to read.

I just finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter, by Kim Edwards. Before that I read The History of the Pink Carnation.

I'm reading Jane Austen's Persuasion.

I have enjoyed it thoroughly so far.

"Lifeguard" by James Patterson and Andrew Gross...its OK so far.

just finished "Saving the World" by Julia Alvarez, it's 2 stories woven into one, about an author and her life/issues and the story that is captivating her, about a Spanish expedition to vaccinate against smallpox in 1804.

very interesting, the parts about the Spanish expedition are much better than the rest IMO.

One of my favorites!

Cool! I'm loving the maturity of the characters in this book.

Oh... what book am I not reading lol. I'm a big fan of Paranormal Romance books. My favorite authors are Maggie Shayne, Christine Feehan, Lynsay Sands, Mary Janice Davidson, Sherrilyn Kenyon, JR Ward, and Amanda Ashley.

In September I have a couple more release's coming out. I'm looking forward to Dark Celebration by Christine Feehan the most.

I just finished Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel and Pages for You by Sylvia Brownrigg, and I am currently reading My Antonia by Willa Cather and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, I also kind of started a book of short stories by Amy Bloom, A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You.

I just started Quentins by Maeve Binchy. I was reading it while I was waiting for my hair dye to set.

Angels Fall - Nora Roberts new one. :) Loving it so far! probably going to stop DISing and go finish it.

I'm re-reading The Visitation by Frank Peretti. I saw the movie last week and just had to re-read the book.

Just finished Husband by Dean Koontz (just so-so IMHO) and Promise Me by Harold Coben(?) (a little better). Kept me occupied for the weekend.
