Maybe... maybe not. Since the rate that the renter is paying is determined by the individual who owns the membership, and hence the reservation points, they may or no be paying full value for the portion of time that they occupy the unit.
By following your analysis, those who rent rooms through CRO are also paying "full value for the portion of time that they occupy the unit." Hence, to follow through on that logic, they should also be entitled to the membership discounts.
The discounts have nothing to do with how much has been paid. Whether you own 25 points or 2,500 points, you are entitled to the same amount of Member Perks. They are a "thank you" for joining the Vacation Club, and committing to DVC for the next 38 - 50 years. If you sell, the perks go on to the next person who buys. Members are not even guaranteed that all of the perks will continue to exist in their current form in the future. DVC is very clear in the POS (Point of Sale) Agreement about who is and who is not eligible for the Perks. How they choose to enforce these rules is up to them.
Dean - what is your take on this issue? I'm actually surprised that you seem to think that the perks should be used by all who are allowed to use them, given your comments to Shan on the Transportation thread.
I think that DVC has the responsibility/choice to see that their policies are enforced evenly. As owners, I don't think we should tell potential renters that they are entitled to perks that they aren't entitled to... even if they may be given those perks anyway. It sets the scene for problems later. I can understand why renters are confused about what they are or are not entitled to... after all, I doubt many of them have had a chance to read the actual POS

. I'd just hate to have someone read posts on here, think they are entitled to certain benefits, plan on them, and then be angry or disappointed when they aren't given the discounts.
