I hope so. When they passed the flag and gave the introduction to Los Angeles at the closing ceremonies, they really doubled-down on "LOS ANGELES."
But, yes, it's not about LA or California. It's the USA.

Probably this thread and a lot of the responses have the closing ceremonies in mind.
My suggestion of honoring Van Halen from Pasadena sure as heck did.
