What backup plan does everyone have on rainy days at Disney World?

are the disney poncho's good?

when we were there in dec i bought one at the resort gift shop and it was very cheesy and thin- as i said it ripped very easily--

however- DH and I STILL have the 2 mickey ponchos we bought back in 1989 YES I SWEAR 1989- we bought them in downtown disney- back then-- the marketplace--- at one of the clothing stores- it is VERY sturdy.

we have been to disney tons of times after buying the ponchos in 1989- however, believe it or not- in 2005 was the FIRST time we even brought them back with us!- they were folded up in a bag tucked away in our closet......and a few people even asked us where we got ours because they liked them!

we are going in sept this year- so i KNOW we will need to pack them for sure!

Rainy days were the best days we had in the parks. Every time the weather broke we got great photo's of the kids with no one else around. When we show friends the pictures of those days they think we owned the place!!

our back up plan consists of 1 dollar store poncho for DW...me and the kids don't mind getting wet AT ALL. We're aren't the Wicked Witch of the West after all...never seen anyone melt yet!

Ponchos and then carry on with the day as planned! The raion will help lower the lines. Can't let the weather get you down.

I think the Disney ponchos are fine. I certainly think they are much better then the $1 ones from Walmart. The cheap $1. ones are so paper thin, they stick to your skin and feel horrible, IMHO. It really does feel like you are wearing a trash bag.

We still have all our ponchos from several trips.

The good thing about the little cheap ones in a small pkg is that they are easy to carry around and if you do not need them it is not a problem. I do not like to be burdened with much of anything when I am walking around. They are essentually one use but that is not a problem as I get them 2/$1. I toss them when it stops raining and even though I have never had it rain twice in one day I can easily carry an extra set for such an occasion. JMO

:drinking1 I go to the Rose and Crown for the day. :drinking1

It's never raining in there :cloud9:

We get a fastpass for Soarin' at Epcot and then go to Innoventions where we spend a few hours. Then we go to do Soarin' and have lunch at the Land foodcourt. If it's still raining we will ride Living with the Land, etc. Usually it's stopped raining but if not we run across to the Living Seas or Imagination! The good thing about Epcot on a rainy day is that you can spend a couple of hours in 1 pavilion if necessary then move on to another pavilion for a hour or two!

My best memories of trips to WDW have to do with rain. When I went when I was 12 ( only MK at the time) it rained every afternoon. Of course we had gone in July so it was extremely hot!! It was so refreshing and it cooled us all off. But I do remember riding Space Mountain about 4 times in a row because nobody else was around. Now flash foward to 2004, It rained only twice on our trip. One evening in Epcot. Instead of fighting the crowds to exit, we took the long way around WS in the rain. We had the best time. Our last night it was just DH and I in MK. (Grandma and Grandpa had the girls) It was sprinkling during Wishes. What a great memory of standing on Main Street in the rain watching Wishes with my DH. We will be heading back the first week of June. I am secretly hoping for a little rain. :umbrella:

Here are a few things we do when we have a rainy day at Disney

Don those ponchos and hit epcots Future World.. lots of things to do INSIDE.

Disney Quest

Resort hop (but we always have our car with us)

Stick around our resort and enjoy it (we can easily do this since we are DVC'ers and know we will be back time and time again). We love to sit by the fireplaces at the WL.. play at the arcade.. look for hidden mickeys.

At the Magic Kingdom you can go from one shop to another to another on Main street and not get wet. Then all you have to do is cross the street and start all over again.

Take a nap - so when the rain stops we are rested and refreshed and ready to go. ;)
