What attractions do you think are Underrated/Overrated?

Underrated: The D.U.H. improv show at DCA. I wandered upon this show while waiting for a FP window to open. It was pretty funny! It's not advertised a whole lot in the official or unofficial DL guidebooks. When it is, it is only mentioned as "an improv show." But take some time to wander to the D.U.H. stage and watch or show or two.

Overrated: TOT at DCA. By itself, the ride is pretty fun, but it really pales in comparison to the far superior and better themed TOT at Disney Studios in Florida. The TOT in Florida is a lot more fun too and loads a lot better.

Liked Lincoln, it was cool
Kids loved Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Loved Grizzly River Run
Loved the Aladdin show-so entertaining
Gadget coaster kids loved (my daughter rode with Minnie!!)

Boring: THe Ugly Bug Ball show
Heimlichs Chew Chew Train

We rode around the park on the Disney Railroad a few times each day. It is a good time to catch your breath, have a drink, get from one end of the park to the other.

The 3-D shows are great, but my 5 year old was scared by some of them-beware!! :earsgirl:

Oh boy--we go in September, and in our experience, the line for the Storybookland Canal Boats was VERY long. Not as long as Peter Pan's ride, but I believe we stood in line for 40 minutes. Plus, we didn't enjoy it. (Lovely miniatures, but no pizzazz. The CM didn't seem to care about her job, either.) I agree that Alice in Wonderland is a fun ride, but we always seem to stand in line for at least 20 minutes, no matter what time of day we jump in line.

The over-rated rides and attractions for us were:
Aladdin (the show)
Soarin' Over California
Fantasmic!
Snow White (the show)
Any fireworks show we've seen at Disney so far

But, I openly admit that we're freaks--based on every response I've ever seen, these shows are fantastic for the vast majority of people who see them. I just don't get it, apparently.

Under-rated rides/attractions that we like:
Mulholland Madness
Muppet 3D
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
The Buzz Lightyear Show
The Tiki Room

These are just the ones that seem to be the least favorite of everyone else--we really enjoy lots of rides and attractions at DL!

Funny how people are so different in their opinions! We hated Mulholland and The Tiki Room, and Loved Fantasmic, Aladdin and Soarin!!

We love this show. My 11 year old son has absolute giggle fits over it. I did not see them on the schedule for our summer trip, but I pray they are there! The first time we saw it we were just looking for a shaded place to sit and take a load off and get rehydrated. We have been back alot since then.

Actually, my 3 yr. old loved the monorail last year; I think it was a combination of being a "safe" ride (i.e. not dark, not fast, no scary twists and turns) plus he loves trains. We joked that we could have stayed home in Northern California and just ridden BART for 5 days...

:rotfl2:

I have children who are 9 and 3. They loved all the Bug's Life rides. These rides obviously aren't designed for adults or teenagers...that said, I had a great time riding because I was enjoying my kids' responses!

As to the monorail...both my boys loved riding in the back car! The view is worth the wait!

I think the Jungle Cruise and the Storybook Canal Boats suffer from the same problem: the quality of the ride totally depends on the personality of the CM running the boat! Personally, I could live without the Canal Boats...I just didn't "get" the entertainment value of looking at dollhouses. My kids enjoyed it, though!

Overrated? All of Toontown. Either my memory is failing me or this is nothing compared to what is in Toontown in WDW. I expected a similar size and scope.

Your memory must be failing--DL's Toontown is a lot bigger and better than WDW's. I was shocked at how tiny it was there. I took about 3 steps and reached the end of it. DL's is a full 3 acres. I think WDW's is barely 1 acre.

From our trip last week, the most underrated attractions, in our opinion are:
Casey Jr. Train and Canal Boats
Disney Gallery
Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at the Golden Horseshoe Revue
Golden Dreams film at DCA

Newer attractions that are as good as most everyone says:
Soarin' (it's not that new, but we haven't been to DL resort since DCA opened)
Buzz
Tower of Terror(altho WDW is better)
Block Party Bash
New Fireworks

Disappointment:
Parade of Dreams

I admit my experience is very limited and somewhat offseason to boot, but we've never had a wait for SCB.

IMHO, there is definitely a reason for this... :crazy2:

I remember the monorail going all the way over to the Disneyland Hotel as well, when I was a child. My family used to leave the parks for an hour at times to go look around the hotel and walk through the waterfalls area. I distinctly remember going directly to the hotel, not across the street in DD the way it is now. I think they have moved the monorail as well, at least that was my impression when I went back as an adult.

Now for the ratings... :sunny:

Most underrated:

Snow White, the new Winnie the Pooh Ride and Tarzan's Treehouse, the Haunted Mansion (always wonderful!)
All require little waiting and are great experiences

Most overrated:

Buzz Lightyear
Splash Mountain
All the DCA fair rides (more imagination needed at DCA??)
All the Bug's Life rides except the catapillar and Bug's Life show

How about a slight twist...Disney Dining Over / Under?

Underrated - Bengal BBQ

Overrated - Princess B-fast

It looks so different now, but the monorail was never "moved"- the station is in the same place it's always been. It is the layout around it that has been changed.

Underrated: Casey Jr.'s Circus Train
Overrated: Star Tours

The monorail station has not been moved.

Underrated: Snow White's Scary Adventures, Animation Building
Overrated: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Toad also has big waits due to only one row instead of 2.

Storybookland is only 2 stars in my book, but it's 3 stars at night. It can be interesting the very first thing in the morning since it looks like the village is being invaded by giant ducks :earseek: . Apparently, way back when, there was a hostess that was doing an "adult" tour of Storybookland (Mouse Tales) late at night that may have been a bit more exciting.

Billy Hill show has some corny humor, but the playing is top notch (and I'm a music snob :music: ).

I wasn't aware that Buzz wasn't popular, most reports I heard were that it's better than WDW's.

I still think the fact that Indy has thousands of variations programmed into it is pretty cool. Some of the chambers do seem lacking compared to the rest of the ride, though.

Mulholland Madness isn't as good as the wild mouse coaster that Paramounts Great America opened the same year. That is perhaps the saddest Disney related atatement that I have ever made.

Cheers.

IMHO

Overrated:
ALL of Fantasyland...I don't understand waiting in long lines for any of these rides. Yea, when they were small my kids liked Dumbo, but we can ride it at any fair as well....and the dark rides were too scary for them when they were small and too boring for them when they got bigger.

Tower of Terror...why did I wait in an hour line (with a fastpass) in order to be dropped down an elevator shaft a couple times? Got off this one and went "that's it?".

Underrated:
Aladdin show in DCA...we see it every time to catch the new Genie jokes.

Soaring...we always wait for front and center seats as there is no other experience!

Matterhorn...even my smallest loves this one and we always go from the lagoon side as the lines tend to not be as bad from that side.

Before our visit last week, I too thought they had moved the DD Monorail station, until I had read on these boards it was in the same place.
When I did actually see the station, it was still hard to conceive there was that much space between the old setup and the Disneyland Hotel.
It seems from previous visits that just past the station was the parking lot and a short walk to the lobby entrance. I wouldn't have thought there was that much room to add the ESPN Zone and the other stores.
