What are your top picks for Kid-friendly meals ....

that aren't character meals?

We're looking for ideas. Right now our fave is Whispering Canyon. We 'might' to character meals next time but I think we had more fun going to WCC than Chef Mickeys

The first to come to mind are 50's Prime Time (MGM) because who doesn't like to see Mom & Dad get teased by the wait staff? and Sci Fi Drive In for the ambience. Sci Fi is a little dark (light-wise) inside so it can be a little hard to see your food. Also, think drive in quality food - maybe it just adds to the authenticity? DH considers Sci Fi the only place in Disney that food hasn't been great.

Hoop Dee Doo. My kids loved this one and want to do it again.

50's Prime time cafe. Antics like WCC with a different twist. My DS still talks about this one from years ago.

We also like WCC!!!!!

Can you do Fantasmic with a resi at 50s prime time?

The thing I didn't like about sci fi was that we didn't sit across from eachother. we had a group of 8 and half of us were looking at the backs of heads!

Can you do Fantasmic with a resi at 50s prime time?

Not the Fantasmic Package with the reserved seating area but you can have dinner and then head over for Fantasmic in the standard sections... For the reserved seating area the participating restaurants are H&V, MM, & BD.

Our favorites...

'Ohana @ Poly for breakfast - Lilo and Stitch are a hoot

Crystal Palace @ MK for late breakfast (around 10:15 on an EE morning) - Pooh and Friends, very nice buffet, nice place to cool off after 10 rides first thing in the AM.

Chef Mickey's @ CR for dinner - Mickey and Friends - nice buffet, a bit noisey, but after an afternoon in MK, it goes with the flow.

1900 Park Faire @ GF - breakfast is Mary Poppins and Friends, dinner is Cinderella and Pals (plus the Prince). Very delicious buffet. A bit elegant - but in a Disney way. We like both meals.

LTT @ GF - for dinner, Chip & Dale and buddies, thanksgiving meal plus more, DH would not miss eating here.

HDD- our kids laugh everytime we go. Food is ok - like going to a bar-b-q.

Hollywood & Vine @ MGM - decent buffet - we eat dinner here to get our Witches section Fantasmic seats (Fantasmic pkg)

I do not think I left any of our favorites out.
The above gives you a very nice selection of characters (only a few buddy repeats) without standing in line to get an autograph or picture.
All the food above is 'kid friendly'. There is a variety of food for the kids.
Even the adults can find their food at the buffets.

although buffets have the down side of getting up and down with the kids they are great because the kids have a lot of selection and may actually eat some fruits and veggies insead of french fries!!

Our kids top three would be Hoop Dee Doo, Ohana's dinner and Chef Mickey's breakfast.

We were there last week.

50s was a big disappointment...very little teasing w/the waitstaff and WE had to initiate most of the "play" (we switched tables w/young girls next to us, threw straw wrappers across table, etc, etc). Kids were not hip on the food there either.

Hollywood and Vine is a MUSt for the Fantasmic package. Buffet was surprisingly good and had a small section lowered for the kids.


My kids loved Seasons in Epcot (Land building). It's just a cafeteria style place but had asian, salad, sandwich and other stations...we even went back another day at DD's request.

Rainforest Cafe in AK is lots of fun and has kid friendly food (plus decent adult food).

Crystal Palace is a character meal but nice in MK.

Rose and Crown in England in Epcot was a nice dinner and allowed for Illuminations viewing front and center w/no wait. My kids thought Bangers and mash was good as well as the Fish and Chips (which we had to go back for another day as well).
