What are your Top 3 films?

Give a little description as to why you like them too.

I thought this would be interesting to see, but no laughing at my choices!!

<b>1. Parent Trap</b> – not the original, the one with Dennis Quaid in. I love this film. If I was a little girl again I would love to go to camp and have fun. It was only recently I found out that Hallie and Annie were played by the same girl (Lindsay Lohan) – Doh!!

<b>2. Dirty Dancing</b> – Doesn’t every girl want to be Baby and do the I’ve had the time of my life dance at the end of the film? Patrick Swayze at his best!! Not sure about this new Dirty Dancing film coming out though ‘Havana Heights’?

<b>3. Lion King</b> - Makes me cry every time when Mufasa dies and Simba is banished. Simba of course is my favourite character. I love the music too – Can you feel the love tonight – great song/great soundtrack.

So come on who’s next!!

Picking just three it would have to be

1. Sound of Music - yes weird I know, but I just love all the music and oddly find Captain Von Trapp rather attractive.

2. Dirty Dancing - I think every girl loves Dirty Dancing Kaylee. I saw it in the cinema when it first came out - when I was just 16!!! I play the CD soundtrack all the time - I love it!!

3. The Usual Suspects - This movie is just class - the best ever 'twist at the end' movie I have ever seen. I love Kevin Spacey.

The runners up would include Toy Story 1 & 2, Bridget Jones Diary - purely for Colin Firth, Shrek and Back to The Future - all that to-ing anf fro-ing still confuses me!!

Cath:D

1) The Wizard of Oz: When I was little, it only came on TV once a year, and it was quite the event. Even though I now have it on DVD, I still watch when it comes on at Easter. The moment when Dorothy opens the door from her black-and-white world into the Technicolor wonder of Oz still takes my breath away. Weirdly, I think this movie instilled in me my love of travel ... and a vague dislike of monkeys.

2) Singing in the Rain: The perfect movie musical. Gene Kelly being macho and graceful; Donald O'Connor being funny and adorable; and Debbie Reynolds being just darned cute! Not to mention Jean Hagen being completely hilarious with that nails-on-a-chalkboard voice. I can recite large portions of it by heart. I LOVE the "Beautiful Girls" number.

3) My Fair Lady: Ah, Audrey Hepburn. The fabulous costumes, the lovely songs, Audrey looking like a Royal Doulton figurine, and Rex Harrison doing that urbane thing he did so well. My first romantic comedy -- you can almost see Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks doing a modern-day remake (though not nearly as well as Audrey and Rex).

Sigh ... Can I please go home now and watch movies? ;)

:rotfl: Fancy admitting that, Cath!!!

My top 3, in no particular order are:

American Beauty (Love Kevin Spacey in this, and all the characters are so believeable. Fantastic script and acting. Gets me every time I watch it. I also, like Cath, love the Usual Suspects, but AB has the edge for me)

Pulp Fiction (I love the script, the way the characters all interlink, the humour, the acting (and I adore Bruce Willis in this ;) ) I can never watch this too many times)

The Lion King (for the music, Jeremy Irons, the storyline, Timon & Pumbaa, the animation and just about everything. Never fails to cheer me up!)

I must confess to a secret admiration for Mr Swayzee in Dirty Dancing as well ;) sssshhhhhhhhh

Pretty Woman...well it's a real story of love conquering all.

Apollo 13..... overcoming adversity and when Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell says "Gentlemen, it's been a pleasure flying with you" I just want to cry.

Dirty Dancing...Patrick Swayze...need I say more?

Hi there

My fave films are;

1) It's a Wonderful Life
2) Die Hard Movies (all of them)
3) Lord of the Rings Movies (all of them)

Fave Disney film

Lilo and Stitch

mandymouse

Saturday Night Fever (for the music)
Swordfish (for the music and the twisted storyline)
Gladiator (for the music and fight scenes)

Good thread! I love films and my perfect evening is either a night out at the cinema, or in front of the TV with a good DVD and bottle of wine!!

To pick only 3 is hard!!

1. LA Confidential. This is my only easy choice. I love everything about this film, the script, the acting, the direction I never tire of watching it.

2. Ferris Beullers Day Off. A classic. Another film I never tire of watching and I love it!

3. Gladiator. This film works on so many levels I feel it should be in my top 3. The music is stunning, the story complex and Russell Crowe looks pretty hot too!!

Runners up would have to include both Shrek films, the Usual Suspects, Goodfellas, The Shawshank Redemption, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Italian Job, Kind Hearts & Coronets, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction...I could go on and on and on!!

Sorry girls, I hate chick flicks!! Titanic is my WORST film of all time, EVER. Dont see the appeal of Dirty Dancing either, Im afraid!! Oh well, all the more Patrick for you girlies then, just leave Russell Crowe for me!

Hi there.

My favourite films are:

1) The Star Wars trilogy.
I was seven when the first film came out in 1977 and i've loved them ever since.Harrison Ford is so cool as Han Solo, and gets all the best lines.I think the story still stands the test of time and I can never see myself getting bored with them.
2) Raiders Of The Lost Arc.
Harrison Ford again, just a great action adventure film and some very funny scenes.I love the bit in the cario marketplace where Indy meets the swordsman.Makes me laugh every time.
3) Reservoir Dogs.
For me its a very, very dark fim, great acting by all the cast, great script, and a brillant story.I love this film.
