Wondered what everyone liked about the Caribbean beach resort thanks

1) We stayed there the year it opened.
2) In fact, we were the first ones to stay in our room.
3) We liked
. . . the amount of water (pools and lake)
. . . boat rentals
. . . decent, not great but good, bus service
. . . an average-quality food area
. . . rooms were typical for WDW Moderate level
. . . usually a quiet resort since the buildings are spread out

I love it there. It just has such a relaxed, beautiful vacation feel to it. The music piped in on the little island, the bright colors, lush landscaping, hammocks on the white sand beaches. The rooms are the largest out of all the moderates. I even liked our dinner at Shutters! The pool is excellent for the kids. The ONLY things I can say I don't like is that it still has double beds (but I expect that to change soon) and depending on what room you're in, there CAN be a bit of a walk to Old Port Royale. Most of the time, I enjoy the long walks, but every now and then I'm in a hurry.

We are staying at a suite at AoA for the first time this trip only because we got a CM discount and our kids are at the age where all the big bright characters are really going to be a hit. I'm afraid our next trip the boys will have started to get to that "I'm too cool" stage. So our next trip we very well may be back at CBR!

I starting staying onsite by going to POR when it first opened. We returned there again and again, also to POFQ. One year we tried CBR. It was set up in a circle like POR, except POR had many convenient bridges cross the water to get to the main bldg/food court. So I didn't like CBR for limited access to the main bldg.

I liked CBR's amenities, but it seemed to me that there were tons of kids there, and they were all running everywhere, making lots of noise. Not so at POR. Overall, I wouldn't return to CBR, when POR was nicer, more relaxed, more accessible to the main bldg. At POR, you could walk to POFQ and try their food court. And POR/POFQ both had family-friendly live music Wed-Sat evenings. POR/POFQ have the horse and carriage rides, and the water boat ride to DTD, which is one of the best perks in all of WDW. I wouldn't seek out a stay at CBR.

It is probably my least favorite moderate, but I would go back. But only if I booked a preferred room. We were in a non preferred room that is fairly close to the food court, but a 10 minute walk to get some pop after a long day in the parks is 9 minutes too long! It was just a bit inconvenient.

I also don't like that there are so many bus stops. 7! Takes you a while to get everyone picked up and go on your way to the parks. But if I could get a great discount I would stay there again.

CBR was our first on site stay and we loved everything about it. We thought the grounds were beautiful, the pool was a lot of fun, the food court was good with a lot of variety, and the transportation was great. We have since been staying deluxe, but wouldn't hesitate to go back to CBR.

Loved it. Love the theming, very tranquil, spread out so doesnt feel crowded (even if it is), great pool. If walking 10 minutes to the food court/pool is going to ruin your trip (not "you" personally - general "you"), then buck up and pay for preferred. Whats another $15-20/nt. At that point? We stayed in martinique 25 facing the water. Perfect location.
The multiple bus stops didnt bother me -- we're talking maybe an extra 3-4 minutes for the stops.
I would def. Go back if i wasnt aiming to stay at every single resort. So, maybe when i have done that, i will go back!

You mention it only having double beds, on the Disney website it gives option for king beds. Is this something new for 2014, or are there not enough king size beds? I only ask because that is a big must have for our 2014 trip.

They have King beds too. My DH and I went on our honeymoon (and 5 year anniversary trip) and had a King bed.

We loved the resort and have stayed there every time. (2 without kids and once with just 1 kid in the King bed rooms and 2 times with kids in the double bed rooms) We love the atmosphere. The kids love the main pool (even the quiet pools are great). We have never had a problem with the size. In fact, most times it felt like we were the only ones there because we didn't see many other people - except at the bus stop.

Thanks Henry. I think it is the size that my DH likes. He doesn't do good around people for to long. I can't even take him to the mall during Christmas time. I did ask him last year how he can handle Disney, he thinks it is because you can find little places to be alone. And that you stay outside most the places. He loved POR, but does want to try something new.

I personally love it. It's so perfect. Romantic. Quiet. Fun and beautiful. I have stayed at almost every resort. This one Is my fav next to the polynesian resort.

We had a split stay last week of CBR with a Pirate room and at Pop. We LOVED CBR. I actually called to try to upgrade us to the whole stay but couldn't. I love being in the Pirate rooms because it is so quiet and secluded back there. Plus, they are sooo cute. My daughter loved them. She is two and had to hug Bucky and the Jolly Roger before we left. She LOVED the zero entry pool, the pool games and music was great. The food court seemed so much less crowded than Pop. The play ground was great, the grounds beautiful. Can you tell we had a great time??? :rotfl2:

<3 CBR!!! :)
Beautiful! I recommend martinque preferred.
Never had a bus issue.

Try to get Jamaica 45 or 46 or one of the comparable Aruba buildings. They are right accross the lake from the main pool and food court. Maybe a 5 minute walk over the bridges/island and they are not considered preferred locations. We have stayed at CBR twice and love the resort although our mousekeeping was sub par in our opinion. Enjoy.

Love, Love, Love CBR!! Stayed there 5 times in sections 42, 45 and 46 in Jamaica. This is my favorite resort!! No complaints!!:thumbsup2

What I love about CBR:
1. It's beautiful. I always take a picture of the landscaping or the pool and send it to a friend on arrival. Green with envy describes the reaction.

2. Caribbean Cay (the island over the bridge). I have to walk through there at least once a day. We often get a coffee and sit in the sun on one of the benches. In fact I always request Aruba so we "have" to walk that route.

3. It can be full and still feel uncrowded except right at meal times at the food court. Caveat: be careful of cheer and sports teams visiting during your vacation. The kids are fine but they do move in large groups which can increase the "busyness" of the resort quite a bit.

4. Its very close to EPCOT and DHS and not too bad to the other parks by bus. Never had a real issue with buses there except for the "park closing rush".

5. Did I mention it's beautiful?
