What are your thoughts about plastic bottled waters not being offered anymore?

I don't go through a lot of plastic at home, but being able to take a few bottles on an excursion and not have to worry about filling up them up (where???) is nice. I hope they find a way to provide water to those of us who prefer to have it delivered to our staterooms before the start of a cruise. I use a Hydroflask at home but don't really want to travel abroad with it.

Thanks. Our first port of call is on day 1 (day after sail) in Oslo. I'll try to map the closest convenience store to port and grab a case or 2.

Look for a Kiwi or a Rema 1000 near the port. I know there is also a Coop Mega at Aker Brygge that isn't super far from the port. These are all very small grocery stores in Oslo. Have a great trip. I love Oslo and Norway. :goodvibes

Oof, I hate that! But, we're not cruising again anyway until they lift the vaccine and testing requirements. ;)

One of the facts I learned was that glass and metal can be recycled many many times , plastic almost not at all. Plastic degrades but does not decompose. It degrades into micro particles that are now found in fish, birds and other wildlife and also in humans. Glass requires very harmful mining for its components so that’s why it falls behind plastic environmentally. It’s hard to keep it all straight, maybe even get the whole truth, I just think plastic is the worst. period. Covid and all of its required disposable single use items has set the world back many years in garbage.

That's true for almost all plastics, but it's not true for the PET that plastic water bottles are made from. PET is very recyclable. Some countries (e.g. Switzerland) recycle about 75% of their PET. It's also useful in trash combustion power plants because it has a lot of energy stored in it.

I know that Wikipedia is Wikipedia, but: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PET_bottle_recycling

I was surprised to see this thread. Yes, on our cruise 6 months ago we had the aluminum Dasani bottles. But last week on Fantasy we had a traditional 24 pack of plastic Dasani bottles delivered to our stateroom.

When I booked a cruise a couple of weeks ago I asked about having water delivered to our stateroom and was told they weren't doing that anymore. I double checked on the app and sure enough I could buy beer, wine, champagne and all sorts of other things, but not water. As of two days ago, when I checked, they had the cans of Dasani listed. I think things are just changing at a pretty rapid pace right now and that's why it's become a topic of conversation here.
