DD and her family will be going back up to the lake to a friends home from early Friday morning until either Saturday night or Sunday.. (They may spend Saturday night at another friends house up there..)

I'll have the entire house to myself - not sure what I'm going to do.. I will listen to the top 100 C/W hits for the year (it's been ages since I listened to the radio, so I'll probably hear some new songs) and possibly do my filing and getting papers ready for income tax time.. Exciting - huh? ;)

I have never, ever liked NY'sEve or NY's Day though, so it's nothing to be bummed about.. I don't have as much paper work to deal with this year, so maybe when I'm done with that I'll go downstairs and set up my craft room for working on my scrapbooks this winter.. (Last year was painting - this year will be the scrapbooks again..)

Or - if I could find a way to get my Yahoo burner to stop interfering with the burner for the photo program on my computer, I could finish backing up all the gazillions of photos I have on here.. Hmmm.. Maybe I should fiddle around with that for a few days..

How about you?

The girls and I will be home like we always are. NYE will be an appetizer day/night with lots of GREAT football then the countdown. NYD will be more GREAT football!

I'll be in Williamsburg, VA. We have a reservation at the King's Arms Tavern. I haven't had peanut soup in years!

No plans as usual. Told DD she could have some friends over if she wanted, but I'm thinking that wasn't such a smart idea. ;)

NYE/NY is not my favorite time of year either.

However, we got into a tradition when the kids were babies and it continues now. We host a "Nearly New Year" party. We have a special alarm clock (the old fashioned kind with the bells on the top) that's decorated with ribbons. We set that clock and when *it* strikes "midnight" (usually around 8pm), we celebrate with sparkling cider, noisemakers, Auld Lang Syne, etc. Then we take the first family portraits of the "new year."

The kids feel like they did something special, and they don't get to bed *too* late. Our parents get home "before the crazies hit the roads." Our more party-inclined friends still have time to drop their kids with a babysitter and go to a real NYE party afterward... and we have the whole thing cleaned up before the ball drops.

It works for us... although DS is 10 now, and is starting to realize that this is not how everyone does it. ;)

NYD we usually take down the Christmas Tree and we'll be watching the "Winter Classic" hockey game.

I'm not sure yet, but will probably just end up watching movies all night. I live in NY, but have no intention whatsoever of being near Times Square. I'll probably watch the ball drop on tv and head to bed. Whee! :lmao:
NYD I always watch the Rose Parade, but other than that... :confused3 I do have to be at work that night though, so that's something!

We're attending our niece's engagement party on NYE and toasting the happy couple at the stroke of midnight.

As far as NYD, I have no clue what we will do except to eat black eyed peas for good luck.

Dinner out early with BIL & SIL then home early.

I usually am like the OP & stay home & do something productive. I might still do that once we get home.

Make something good to eat, share some good wine with DH after DS goes to bed, light a fire, watch a movie. Don't like to be out with all the crazies. NYD I like to get a good workout in or maybe take my dog and go snowshoeing if we still have snow. Maybe make a big pot of soup. My partying days are over.

We usually head to our friends ski house where the kids ski all NYE until midnight and we just hang out and eat junk and have a few drinks. We come home NYD. However, my ds is sick so if he doesn't get better, I may just send DH and the girls and stay home with my little man.

Nothing special.....stay home, watch movies, play games.
NYD....maybe go to a movie and take down the rest of the decorations.

DH and friend just got asked to play at a local bar & grille, so I'll end up corralling my friends together for that. We tossed around the idea of having a party with them playing, but this is better.

DH and I are headed to the coast. We will drop DS and DD off at my parents house on the way. We will bring in the new year with crab legs and football. Can't wait.

New Years Eve we're going out for a fancy dinner and then headed to our great little neighborhood bar to wait for the ball to drop. New Year's Day is my birthday and we're going to a hockey game!

I was never a big fan of NYE and NYD either. DH has been with the same company for 22 years, and they do a physical inventory on New Year's Eve day. So that night, we stay home and relax and usually have lobster and steamers, and watch some sort of TV marathon (hopefully NOT The Three Stooges  ). As the kids have gotten older...youngest is 17...I've added "worry about the kids being out" to my evening.

New Year's Day...take down the Christmas tree.

Normally, DW and I take in a movie, then come home and do a themed movie marathon (last year was X-Men). However, since her bday is the 29th, she's decided she wants to go out to dinner before the movie. Since we have to drive to a neighboring town, we may stop and visit my sis, as long as we make it back before the crazies are out.

NYD has always been tree/decor day. This year, I didn't do an elaborate outside display, so that will take me an hour, then I'll watch the Alabama game until she has the ornaments removed, after which I'll take down the tree. With a 3 day weekend, it should like any other day of the year by Sunday.

I'll be in Williamsburg, VA. We have a reservation at the King's Arms Tavern. I haven't had peanut soup in years!
My DH would be totally jealous. He loves that soup.:)

For our NYE/NYD, my brother, niece and her husband are coming to visit from PA. We'll probably just party at home...play board/card games, drink, play wii, eat. We live in a dry county and the nearest bar is 20+ miles away. And there are enough drunk drivers on the road on a regular day around here. I definitely don't want to be on the roads on NYE/NYD.

We actually have plans!! Sushi/ hibachi with nine people, including my best friend and her hubby who are Air Force and stationed in NC. They've come home for Christmas and are spending NYE with us. So excited! :woohoo:

I am having a party at my house with some friends. It's been a tradition to have a party at my house. :)

NYE - out dancing & buffet at local club. It will be a 1 drink night though and home right after stroke of 12.

NYD - both have to work at 630am. DBF has a hockey game at 230 so that will be fun, I love to watch him play.

Sunday - well football here in Patriot's country. Game doesn't mean much but it is Miami so worth watching.
