What are your plans for NYE?

Mine are totally up in the air now.

My husbands elderly Aunt took a bad fall and hit her head. She is currently in a coma and not expected to make it. So we may have a last minute trip to fly to MN for her funeral.

I don't even know if we can afford for me to go - it's expensive to fly over the holidays last minute so my husband may be going alone. We just aren't sure yet.

Not a fan of NYE.

To me it marks the end of the season, and I hate to see it end :sad1:

Even though we keep our tree and decorations until the 6th, NYE has always been kind of a sad day for me :sad1::sad1:

Same as last year.

DS will go next door, for his buddy's birthday party. (usually 10 or so boys, staying the night)

We will be at home. DH will need to do a dialysis treatment, since he is taking tonight off. We'll probably be up when the ball drops, but no alcohol here. He's still recovering from that nasty bout with the flu, and I woke up this morning with a sore throat and back spasms. (The spasms usually happen after I scrub down the bathrooms/floors, from being bent over, but this time they waited until the next day.)

I doubt we will even be awake for midnight on NYE. My husband has the flu and I have bronchitis. When we do get to spend NYE together, which isn't often, we always did "Christmas" with champagne and some special wrapped gifts. We did around the country in 8 days this past week and neither made it to shopping. We'll be sharing some soup and snuggles and more tissues. At least I can see his pretty face. That's a special blessing.

DH and DS will play Destiny. I will read. DH and I will have a few adult beverages. DD will play until bed time. I will fall asleep on the couch long before midnight. DH will wake me up a few minutes before and we will all watch The Pelican Drop at midnight. Then I will go back to sleep on the couch until DH is ready for bed.

Dinner is just appetizers. This year DS requested pizza rolls so I got him those. I will make meatballs in jelly/chili sauce, a buffalo chicken dip, a hot spinach dip, and those salsa cream cheese roll ups. We will just snack all day/night.

I have a doctor's appointment in the morning (need to remember to set my alarm lol). Then I will come home and watch movies and play video games all day. Dinner with be apps and snacks. Chicken wings, cheese and crackers, chicken dip, chips and dip, cheesecake dip, and white hot chocolate. No idea if I will make it until midnight.

I'm intrigued-what is chicken dip?

Going to dinner at Sierra Grill around 7:30 to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Then we'll head home and probably see what's on Netflix. I know I'm staying up until midnight but I don't think he will. Maybe a few drinks.

My BFF and her DH are coming over and staying the night. We will be celebrating their last year as just a couple. Their DS is due at the end of January! :cool1: Then BFF and I will go shopping and leave the boys to the video games. I am making Italian and we will have appetizers.

Sorry about your husband's Aunt. I'll keep her, your husband, and you in prayer.

Not the OP but I'd bet it's chicken buffalo dip and it's fantastic. The recipe I've been making for years is:

1 lb Chicken breast
1 8 oz block cream cheese
3/4 cup Ranch Dressing
1/2 cup Hot sauce (not Tobasco, unless you want a mouth of fire, lol)
1 cup shredded cheddar or mexican blend cheese

We serve ours hot. It's delish!

Congrats on your friend's baby to be born in 2015!

We have a standing date with our good friends- we almost always go to their house for their NYE party. It's friends and family, kids and adults, everyone brings food to share, and it's always a good time. Younger DS will probably come with us (unless he's too tired- he gets back from Winter Camp tomorrow morning). Older DS has to work till 9pm then he's going to his girlfriend's since her parent's are having a party, but probably won't stay late since he has to work the next morning. New Year's Day I will be making snacks and stuff all day and maybe have some of the boys' friends over.

It's my aunt's recipe.

1 package softened cream cheese
1 can of "deviled" chicken (I use normal canned chicken and break it up more)
1 tsp dried minced onion
1 tsp soy sauce

Served cold with crackers. So good and simple.

I live very close to Boston so most likely will hop on the subway and go into Boston. Boston has a day long first night celebration. We most likely will not buy buttons but do free events for a while. Usually we look at ice sculptures, watch part of the parade, catch the figure skating show followed by family fireworks at 7pm. The last time I stayed for the midnight fireworks I was pregnant with my 14 year old dd.

My DBIL's band is playing so I told my DSister months ago that I would keep her 4 & 7yo kids for the night so she could be with her DH. Fast forward to now, DSis has hernia surgery scheduled for NYE day so I'll have the kids all day, night and most of NYD! We won't be doing too much as I just had cataract surgery this morning so will have to be careful. They are good kids so I'm not worried. Her surgery is supposed to b out patient so we will go over their house for a while so they can see their mom and she won't be alone for too long.
