What are you doing for New Year's Eve? And, are you happy about it?

DH and I have to go to a wedding and we're not happy! We would rather stay in and play board games with friends or even just by ourselves.

We are staying home by ourselves. We have NO desire to go out. And we are happy about it. :)

We will be staying in and ordering take out like we do every year. I'm happy about it b/c we don't like going out New Year's Eve.

Ruth Chris Steakhouse at 8:30 and then a party. I'm not a huge fan of New Years though...seems like fake happiness to me.

I am, however, a huge fan of steak :)

hockey game...manchester monarchs vs. lowell lock monsters...indoor fireworks at the arena after...i don't really care about the whole new year thing...it was important when 2002 came in...more to get out of 2001 and put 9/11 behind us (as much as we could all things considered) but this year, as with most others it just seems like a waste of a holiday...will be celebrating 1 year with a license however...

Going to see what I hope will be a great performance of Cinderella at the Arkansas Reperatory theatre.

My guy and I are having a "quiet night at home". As long as I am with him, I know I will be happy. :D He is taking his board exam next month (Step 3) so he is stressed with preparing for it.

Going to a NYE dance at our local legion hall with friends

We are having friends (and their kids) over to play board games.

DH will be leaving New Years Eve for work at 6pm and not getting home until 7:30AM New Years Day and then he's back in New Years Day too so just me by myself.:(

Right now we plan to go over to a good friend's house and enjoy the evening there. Not really out on the town partying, but not just staying at home either :)

Looks like I'm not with the majority here, but we are excited about going out. Boston has a great First Night that we have been doing for the past few years. Lots of cultural events during the day, skating on Frog Pond, seeing beautiful ice sculptures, etc. The kids and I normally hook up with DH (who works in town), eat an early dinner at Bennigans, walk around the city and then find a spot for the parade. After the parade, they have family fireworks and then we head over to Finales, an absolutely scrumptious dessert spot for a glass of champagne and a decadent chocolate treat.

Okay, and I might be a bit bias about the holiday because New Years Day is my birthday. :teeth:

My husband and I are going out to dinner- reservations are for 7:30- then coming home and bringing in the New Year at home. This is our first New Year's married and in our new house, so even though we're not big New Year's people, we're really looking foward to it!

We will be staying home and having lobster and steamers. We do this every year. We get the kids sparkling apple cider to celebrate with. Truth be told - we very rarely make it til midnight.

Since NYE is DS's 16th BD (woowoo), we will be celebrating at home with my family. We'll order some broasted chicken, I'll make mostaccioli and we'll add a few sides and, sing Happy Birthday. :cool1:

I'm taking DS5 to see the Harlem Globetrotters. They play in Milwaukee every New Years Eve. We're both pretty excited. They have 'meet and greet" before the game, the kids get to play with them right on the court and they sign autographs and everything. DS only knows them from the old Scooby Doo episodes, so I'm not really sure what he's expecting, but he loves basketball so I'm sure he'll enjoy it. After that we'll probably just hang out at home, he's going to try to stay up until midnight this year

Staying home, celebrating, and getting to sleep at 12:01. I've got to work the next day.
