What are your luxury items on your grocery shopping list?

Shrimp, scallops, salmon
scungilli ($18 a can)
deli sliced prosciutto (buy it every week, ds18 snacks on it)
fresh mozzarella from 2 of my favorite delis ($25 a pound vs. $8 a pound of freshly made Shoprite fresh mozz but it’s amazing)
pignoli cookies, so delicious, gluten free, made them once myself and the ingredients costs do much I’d rather just buy them from a bakery

Actually....not much......

My V8 Fusion 100% juice - it’s the best way for me to get fruits and veggies in me since I can’t eat most of them due to my UC.
(I wouldn’t consider this luxury, but I’m buying it regardless if it’s on sale or not)

That’s it....My grocery list is boring - LOL!

I don't think I'd call any of the food I buy a luxury item. I guess I'm just plain.

Fancy cheeses, I buy those when we’re hosting friends which doesn’t happen these days! I went to West Side Market in cleveland yesterday and got bamboozled into spending $14 on grapes! They’re some specialty variety that almost look like blueberries. Those sellers are slick, they give you samples and then of course you buy. I also prefer Fairlife milk but we use so little of it thats it’s no big deal. Real butter, often Kerrygold, no margarine in this house!

Hmmm, so I can't put my allergy-free products and my supplements here b/c they are more necessity than luxury...so, without them...

I splurge on 1-2 items/week. This week, with Lent upon us, while it was 50% off, I still consider the jumbo lump crab meat a splurge ($11/lb). And I bought myself inari at 4 for $4 (I made 2 Lenten lunches for myself with 2 Inari and salads dressed with sesame dressing).

In other weeks, I splurge on fresh atlantic salmon filets, extra large shrimp, or fresh cod filets when they are $7/lb or less, smoked salmon when it's $1/oz or less, duck breasts when they are $10/lb or less, sea scallops when they are $12/lb or less, NY strip steaks when they are $7/lb or less, and Korean marinated beef when it's $6/lb or less. Most of my "splurges" are proteins, since I tend to always find produce deals...but I don't splurge on more than 1 per week for protein (it's our "Friday " or "Sunday" splurge ever since we dropped to only eating out 1x/week).
At 11.00 a pound for the crab,I'd skip the mortgage for the month and load up! Incredible price-lucky you!

Yeah, I do love the slash-priced fish sales for when Lent starts...this year, on top of the crab, I've been getting raw extra large shrimp for under $5/lb. It's another of the "this price hasn't been this low in years" deals this year:).

And the crab cakes were spectacular last night - I had them with a cucumber dill salad (with 59 cent cucumbers), the $1.29 quart of strawberries, and some homemade banana chocolate muffins - so the rest of dinner was cheap to afford the splurge of the crab. I told my spouse that with 2 crab cakes for 5 (6th person had eggs b/c he crazily won't eat crab), I made a $100+ dinner (since it was app-size for the crab, not entree) for about $25 all-in. So anytime I see the crab that cheap again, I'll buy it:)...

True that! I paid about $20.00/lb for pasteurized lump back fin crabmeat @ BJ’s around Christmastime and thought that was a steal.

Slashed price Lenten sales?!? What a wonderful concept that I wish someone would pick up on here 8-)

Not much....I am a sale shopper and shop at Costco a lot.
I don't buy fruit or vegetables if they are high priced to me.....I'll just eat apples until seasonal fruits come in.
Everything is pretty much what we normally eat. I won't go too high on anything, but don't consider them luxury items.I do buy Lactaid milk, because of the far out date on them

Luxury items at a grocery store??? OP, I believe you and I have different definitions of the word luxury.

My grocery lists are usually based on sales items and BOGO items. And I do pretty well with that (and keep a full pantry). I think I can say there isn't anything that is an absolute must for me.

Dubliner cheese - just got some of the swiss today to snack on
Salmon - I eat a piece every week just about
Rao's pasta sauce - It just tastes better but I stock up at Costco and on sales

I honestly don't splurge much. I want to keep my budget in line.

If by luxury we’re talking about a splurge item or a more expensive choice when there’s a much cheaper option...pasture-raised, grass-fed beef and omega-3 chicken are probably our highest monthly grocery buys. ETA: I have never seen grass-fed beef cheaper than grain-fed. That’s new.

My husband’s espresso is pretty pricey, too, but we’ve worked it out that it’s about 6 cents per espresso so it’s obviously still much cheaper than Starbucks!

I’ll have to see what my grocery store is selling crab for because now I really want a crab cake!
