DS is in 1st grade. All week he's been coming home with various Thanksgiving papers.

Earlier this week, he came home with a paper where they had to write what they are thankful for. DS wrote:

"I am thankful for July cause my birthday is in it."

Then today, we had Thanksgiving lunch with DS at school and all of the kids made place mats. On the place mats, there was room from them to write one sentence about what they were thankful for. DS wrote:

"I am thankful for me."

LOL! It's funny, but I feel bad about it, too!

Don't feel bad, but if it truly bothers you...you can do something about it....use it as a stepping stone/opportunity to talk about it. Explain what else he can be thankful for....Explain what you are Thankful for.........
Have a BLESSED Holiday Season!

is it possible he doesn't understand what "thankful" means? try explaining what YOU are thankful for and then ask him what he's thankful for.

Well, i'm a 40 year old kid, does that count, my family, father's doctor, and I a ER nurse felt that Father had pancreatic cancer.......CT came back just hours ago.....and it was clean:worship:...oh Thank you, Thank you. now we are left with pancreatic insufficency....that we can work with:thumbsup2
