I have always thought it would be fun to give the extended family groups a basket of "Favorite Things" each year ala' Oprah. Then I thought my family would think it presumptuous or odd. Still, I think about it sometimes.

What are some items from this year that you especially love and would place in a Favorite Things gift?

Mine would include some of this mishmash

Food list:

Swiss Miss Chocolate Lovers hot chocolate mix (extra marshmallows!!)
Spray can frosting from Pillsbury. (genius!)
Dutch cocoa powder from Penzey's spices (smooth and yummy.)

Other misc.

Bearded stocking hats like this:http://www.etsy.com/listing/6074688...ge=&order=&includes[0]=tags&includes[1]=title

The entire set of Hunger Games books.

Ipod Touch's because they rule...I would consider an Ipad but I don't have one to judge by.. :confused3

The Pioneer Woman Cooks cookbook. Not because it is anything extra ordinary but because I think that her blog is awesome!

Creamy Caramel candles from Yankee

AAAAANDDDD a trip to Disney! (You have to say it like "a partridge in a pear treeeeee :rotfl:) After those commercials, my kids are yearning for a pizza box suprise trip.

I think I would do something like this:

-photo collage of our family from the past year
-a bottle of Seven Daughters White or Red (dependingon the recipient)
-bar of Green & Blacks 70% dark chocolate
-one of the following movies: White Christmas, Muppets Christmas Carol or Christmas Vacation
-and chocolate chip cookiesmix in a jar.

OP - love the Hunger Games and the Pioneer Woman blog, so fun!

I would put -

-the Harry Potter collection that comes in the "Wooden" trunk

-my top 5 movie musicals - Mamma Mia, Grease, RENT, Sweeney Todd and Annie

-A PS3, the one we have plays Blu Ray as well, (I'm not sure if they all do ?)

-a 500 dollar Amazon gift card, because I could spend my entire savings on that site

- a trip to the Greek Isles because thats my number 1 vacation spot :)

espresso/cappuccino machine: I have the KitchenAid one
coffee grinder: I have a Starbucks but when it dies I will get a Rancillio MacBook Pro

-Raindrops on roses
-Whiskers on Kittens
-bright copper kettles
-warm wollen mittens
-brown paper packages tied up with strings
....these are few of my favourite things

I like this idea. If I were Oprah, I would give everyone:

Tickets to Wicked

A Raclette Grill

A Kindle (with cover and light and gift card for books)

A Disney Cruise

Ralph Lauren Big Pony Polos

Ritter Chocolate Bars

and
Kinder Eggs

oh, I have lots but here are a few that come to mind...

Robert Rothschild Roasted Pineapple & Habanero Dip (great for marinating chicken and pouring over cream cheese)

Harry and David Potato Corn Chowder Mix

Shoffee.com for K cups

Good Cook "Smart Scoop" Ice Cream Scoop - the best!

Pampered Chef Small Spatula (the one that is about 6 inches)

Whirly Pop for popcorn - makes movie theater type popped corn

Morrocan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

Mary Kay Pencil Eye liner, eye makeup remover, under eye concealer, oil mattifier

Life is full of good stuff: too bad I can't wrap any of them

I wish I could wrap a sense of humor, next best thing might be a collection of funny movies.

As long as they turn into your family's favorite things, too, I don't think they'd think it was presumptuous. ;) Maybe add in a couple of their favorite things, too.
