I just put the dog out and was stopped in my tracks by how beautiful the snow looks covered in that particular shade of blue I only ever see with the moonlight hits the snow... Just lovely :cloud9:

I don't always like being cold but I could never live without the snow.

the smell of fresh snow, when the sunlight bounces off the snow but i hate it when snow gets dirty.

kae

When it first falls and i don't have to go out in it, and can stay in and bake.

When it melts? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::rolleyes1

Okay, okay... I admit it looks pretty in the the trees but that is about it as far as I'm concerned.

(I'm from Georgia and the Virginia winters have been a bit rough on us.)

That melts. Okay I live in the South. I have seen enough snow last next 100 years. LOL

After a long weekend and a snowday I was sitting at my dining room table (most likely DISing) and enjoying the peace and quiet and the beautiful view out my sliding glass door. The trees branches in the woods were covered with ice and it was snowing huge snowflakes like the size of golfballs. It was so pretty.

ETA In general my favorite thing about the snow isn't really about the snow. I love to watch the cardinals in my backyard in the winter. They just pop out when everything around them is covered in white.

Oh yes, when I was driving after the ice storm I kept having to tear my eyes away from the trees. The way the ice settles over bare tree branches and makes them all look like beautiful Swaroski crystal takes my breath away every time. It's so rare too, it only happens with ice storms and they usually melt away by mid afternoon as soon as the sun warms things up.

That particular smell reminds me of being a kid and the snuggling in all day is nice too.

The quiet.... I love how quiet it is when it is snowing. We live next to the freeway, so it is a change for us. I wish it would snow.

I was going to say the same thing. We also have freeway noise, but it's in the background. It hadn't occured to me until your post that that's probably why the quiet is so noticeable to us!

I live in a rural area and didn't even think about how much traffic noise we have, but during last week's storm I realized how much we could hear when it was GONE. SO QUIET

Agreed. I live in a small town, so it isn't real noisy, but WOW. I took the kids out in the middle of our little snowstorm this week and it was just eery quiet. Really nice.
My personal fave is when the snow is sticky and stays attached to every branch and tree. Beautiful.

When it passes us by. I hate the snow and would be happy if I never saw it again.

The beauty of it. Right now I am living on the edges of the Ozark bluffs and it is soooo beautiful. The icicles and frozen waterfalls are just amazing.

Ummm, I agree, that silence that only comes when it snows is marvelous. I especially like it when it snows in the evening, after everyone is home from work and nestled into their homes. When it's quiet like that I like to step out into the snow and hear the soft sound of my footsteps.

Add the smell of a neighbors fire in the fireplace and it's perfection:love:

Mystery Machine, I have never seen frozen waterfalls or many icicles, we have some every so often but nothing WOW worthy. If you have pictures I'd love to see them. That goes for everyone, I really do enjoy stuff like this, it always makes me smile.

I love that you can wake up to two feet of snow and had no clue it was happening during the night.

Skiing, skating, sledding. I'd hate to not have a winter. I do wish it was a bit shorter though.

It's definitely beautiful, and the first 'real' snow is always fun to watch. Then I'm done and ready to move to Florida!

I'm in NY, and I'd much rather be wearing flip flops, shorts and tanks all year. With the heat blasting in the house, the DRY air, not being able to go outside for lengths of time, I really am done with it.

Sure eventually everyone gets over it, but without the cold I don't think spring would be nearly as much fun. This year I planted tons of Snow Crocus in the yard, I can't wait until they pop!

For now I'm loving the snow, in a few months I will love the dirt & planting, then I will love summer vacation with the kids, then I will love the leaves changing color and then the snow again. I'm all about the seasons:goodvibes

I've lived without snow for a long, long time. I still appreciate Spring when it comes - it's my favorite time of year. Without the benefit of being frozen first!

I love the beautiful pictures of snow that I've seen - it really does transform a landscape. But can't say that I'd ever want to see it in person.
