What are your best rain tips?

Also, can you umbrellas in the parks?

As far as I know, you can, although a poncho would be less of a hassle. When it rains, we put on our ponchos and go. The parks get less crowded, less wait times, and fun puddles to splash! :lmao: Have fun!

You can bring umbrellas in the park.

I keep ziplock baggies with me for my camera, phone etc.

Buy dollar store rain ponchos before your trip. I think they are like $15 or so at Disney. If there is wind with the rain, then the umbrella is not going to keep you very dry.

When you get back to your room, stuff hand towels into your sneakers to help dry them out

the poncho's are not that expensive, under 10 dollars, and they do hold up thru multiple wearings...we have some yellow ones that must be more than 10 years old

my best tip is to wear keens or teva's when the weather is going to be soggy, nothing worse than wet sneakers (summer trips) and i love splashing around disney world when everyone is heading out of the parks, much more enjoyable time....

i also have brought a rain jacket (lightweight nylon) which is more comfortable than a poncho....

The water parks are a great place to be on rainy days. Low crowds and you're already wet anyway :)

As PPs have said, don't run away when it starts raining. It's one of the best times to be there as wait times for attractions drop. If its a torrential down pour, duck into a shop or restaurant. I also would go for the poncho. I'd think an umbrella would be too cumbersome with the crowds.

plenty of room for extras. We usually carry ponchos with us. Quick showers are common in June when we usually go. If the forecast is for heavier rain, we take our rain jackets. The ponchos are good for light rain, but I want more protection when it is pouring.

Have at least a couple of pairs of shoes. It's not fun to put wet shoes on the next morning.

Crowds are generally lower when it is raining. If there is lightning, the indoor attractions can still have long lines since many rides will be shut down.

Cover up and keep on doing your thing! Umbrellas too much of a hassle and danger to others.

We went the 'Dolla Stow Poncho' route and it was better than nothin'. But this year, we're going Big-Time- We're buying rain suits at Walmart!

The ponchos at Disney lasted us for three years.....gonna splurge this year and buy new ones if it starts to rain....cause someone (DH) forgot to remove them from the large, wet, ziplock bag when we returned from our trip last year. Not. Good.

I also stuff a baseball cap in my backpack and throw it on during those quick pop-up showers. You Do NOT want to see this hair after it rains!

Remember to pack more than one pair of tennis shoes.

Everyday, we each have small ziplock bag for our phones & 2 cheapie dollar store ponchos.
I hate carrying around a wet poncho so we just use the dispoable ones, we actually tear off the long sleeves and the lower section (they are almost floor length) and just toss them when rain lets up.

Umbrellas are not convenient at all..... in crowds or in lines, you wind up just dripping on the person next to you or worse, poking them as people move about.

Always pack a secondary pair of sneakers to get you thru the next day , I liked a previous suggestion of stuffing towels inside wet sneakers to help dry them out.

Just be careful on certain rides in the rain..... BTMRR was an agonizing experience! LOL but admittedly, my daughter and I still chuckle about it 10 yrs later!

If you have young children, I suggest packing a backpack each day with a full change of clothes wrapped up tight in ziplock gallon sized bags, and a travel bottle of powder. When my kids were under 12, we did this since there is a spot to get wet (on purpose) at almost every park) a full change of clothes wrapped up tight is about the size of a water bottle. We'd throw it a locker when we first got to the park and retrieve it when needed or at the end of the day.

Bring Ziploc bags and to keep your cell phone and camera dry. Wear shoes that can get wet like crocs, keens or flip flops (soggy sneakers and socks are the worst)! Buy a Disney poncho, they are pretty cheap ~$7 for kids and $8 for adults -- bring an extra gallon size bag to put your poncho in when it stops raining. And the best thing about the Disney ponchos is if they rip you can exchange them for a new one! Just take the your torn poncho to any store and they will exchange it for free (you don't even need your receipt, so you can exchange a poncho from 10 years ago for a new one). And most importantly like PP's said DON'T LEAVE THE PARKS -- most people will head for the exit when it starts raining which means shorter wait times for you!

-Baseball cap (because poncho hood are the worst)
-Walmart/$tree ponchos - these are also great for water rides
-change of socks in your day bag (soooooo much better than wet/damp socks)
-$tree pop-up washcloths (great for wiping down wet seats or pulling moisture out of thick hair after the rain)
-ziplock bags to stash your electronics
-ask for a big Disney plastic shopping bag at any store to put your day bag in if its really pouring
-lightweight jacket for after the rain if the temp drops
-stick to indoor/undercover areas as much as possible
-don't go straight to long shows (or Ellen's energy adventure) if you're soaked... It's no fun to sit around wet for 45 min.

I cut our ponchos down the front so we can take them off easily. And we stay just as dry.:thumbsup2

I just continue on with whatever I would be doing anyway. I always bring my jacket to the parks and have it tied around my waist all day when I'm not wearing it (because of a medical condition I am very sensitive to cold, A/C, and air movements...so even though I go in September I need the jacket indoors). The jacket is light weight, has a hood, and is waterproof with zippered pockets for my phone and such. I put it on and just go.

Of course...my first thought when I saw the question was, "Just keep swimming...just keep swimming...just keep swimming..." :)

Wear shoes that can get wet!
If you use a poncho- wear the hood over a baseball cap- it will keep the water from dripping in your face.
If you use a stroller, pack a shower curtain or heavy duty plastic table cloth to cover the stroller- I had Many people ask me where I found mine when we were caught in a downpour last year...I had gone to WM and bought two flannel backed tablecloths- it came in handy for when we needed to be protected from the rain and when we wanted to sit without getting dirty :)
Purchase extra large ziplock bags to put your valuables in, inside your backpack (if you use one).
Stay stay stay!!!!

We bought these super lightweight rain jackets from land's End for our kids. They fit better and are more comfortable for them than ponchos. They also fold up into a little built in pouch, and fold even smaller than ponchos. If they made them in my size, I would get one for myself too!

If you take a stroller, having a stroller cover, or using a poncho or something to keep the stroller dry is a must. You can throw all your stuff in there to keep it dry. And it's pretty miserable to have a child sitting in a wet, uncomfortable stroller seat.

I tend to wear flip flops to the parks, especially if it looks like rain. For anyone wearing sneakers, I try to bring a thin pair of flip flops along. At the first drop of rain, they can change into the flip flops and stash the socks and sneakers in a plastic bag until the rain stops. Wet socks and sneakers are awful.

Definitely make use of the Disney plastic bags! I keep a couple on hand and can toss our bags or whatever in them to keep them dry. We got caught in the rain when we had some photos from a character meal with us, and I put them in one bag, then turned that bag upside down and put it into another bag, so it was super protected from the rain.

Ziploc bags are another really good thing to have. I keep our autograph books in a Ziploc bag at all time when we're carrying them around. They've been saved from rain, water bottle leaks, and spills numerous times by the bag. They're also good for cell phones, or a spare change of clothes.

Buy cheap $1 ponchos..indoor attractions still open..rode space mountain many times and soarin three times...five minute wait times!
