What are your "attraction grievences?"

Anyone remember the old telephones (in Tomorrowland) that enabled you to call certain Disney characters? It must have been in the late 70's or very early 80's.

Just wondering!

Yes! I remember those! If I recall correctly, they were in the same building that Circlevision was in, right across from where Star Traders now is. I loved those things!

Another vote for the old Rocket Jets...they were so much better when they were atop the Peoplemover building! Actually, now that I think about it...I liked Tomorrowland alot better the old way. Now it just seems like there are so many things there that aren't being utilized. I'm glad the tracks for the Peoplemover are still there, though it is kind of sad to see them empty.

Not necessarily an "attraction", per se, but I do so miss the Tahitian Terrace! I think with the renewed interest in all things "tiki", if they reopened it, it'd be even more difficult to get seating without a reservation than at Blue Bayou!

Did the Tahitian Terrace give out shell necklaces? I have vague memories of going somewhere around the time of my first DL and getting shell necklaces at some sort of tropical/hawaiian type place. Maybe my sister, PinkBudgie, can help me out if I'm thinking of the Tahitian Terrace or if it was somewhere else we went.

Well, you stumped me! :rotfl: I don't remember that at all. I do have this shell necklace hanging around that I've had for years and I don't know where it came from. :confused3

They did give out shell necklaces at the Tahitian Terrace; somewhere, I still have a couple of them.

Also, if you ordered fruit punch, you'd get a plastic orchid as a garnish that you could take home. I've had this one since my 8th birthday, in 1984:

I so wish they'd bring that place back!

Yes we did! I was a hostess there back in the early 90s.

Hmmmm.... I wonder if that's the place I'm remembering then. It would have been around 1980 when we went. Since PinkBudgie doesn't remember if we went there or not I guess i'll have to ask our parents to see if they remember because now it's going to bug me until I figure it out! :upsidedow

Its now called Aladdin's Oasis, between the Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise. The Tahitian Terrace was a restaurant with a polynesian show. We gave out shell leis to everyone attending the dinner shows. I worked there in 1992 as part of the last crew for the Tahitian Terrace but of course we didn't know that then.

Ok, it is coming back to me. I remember the place now, I just don't know if my necklace came from there. I'll ask about it today. I remember eating in that spot much later when it was an Aladdin Restaurant that had magic lamps in the middle of the tables. That was around 95, I think.
