OK, it has been discussed much but I wanted to have an excuse to vent about the attractions that have been either wrongly eliminated or have been compromised in some way so that something has been lost.
-America Sings! I just can't ever get past this, I loved the rotating theater and it really is not utilized very well with the current HOT Innovations building. I do like to go in there to appreciate the moving building and actuallu I don't hate the current installation but to me it seems so WDW and not really a DL attraction. Go see the America Sings show on Youtube.
-Country Bear Jamboree and the old Critter Country. I used to really look forward to entering this area and having The Hungry Bear, my childhood favorite place to have lunch and the CBJ and the great atmosphere in this corner of the park. Now it is often just a way to walk from the exit of Splash Mountain. I hope the rumors of the CBJ coming back at DCA are true but I doubt it.
-The Keel Boats. The Keel boats were amazing and made the river seem like it had so much more traffic on it. They were retired when one capsized with guests on board and once that happened they were eliminated. So sad and I get watery eyed when I pass by the remaining Keel boat permanently anchored on the ROA.
-Fort Wilderness. This is one of the most underrated mistakes committed to an attraction. It was torn down a few years ago and Disney initially said that it would be rebuilt as it was in its former glory but recently I heard that was not true and the current fort facade is for CMs with no lans to make it an attraction again. What an outrage! As a kid that was the highlight of making the journey to the island; getting to the far end and the fort and touring it! I feel bad for the kids today who will never know the joy.
-The Treehouse. So much more interesting in it's original form. The Tarzan theme and story seems "toddlered down" to me, like they dropped the traditional story for a kid's tale.
-Matterhorn Bobsleds. The cars on the ride used to not be together in two car trains, they used to be solo and the ride would bank and turn way differently as single bobsleds. The decision was made to speed up the efficiency of the attraction and make them two car trains at the expense of ride quality. The ride was built in the 1950s and it simply can't accomodate enough guests in its original form.
-Main Street. I can't believe more people don't mention this but during the Eisner reign the walls separating the different structures were removed to give it a more mall feel that is more condusive to moving merchandise. To me the feel of a small shop on Main Street is largely lost in the name of a 10% increase in sales.
-The Storyland Boats. I just hate when they kill an attraction and then just leave that area totally in solitude with nothing but leaves and trash cans. The boats were fun at night with the running lights and The Monorail cruising by above.
-America The Beautiful 360º Cinema. The Astro Blasterss area used to be a theater that showed 360º films. I like Astro Blasters, I just wish they could have found a way to keep the cinema. They have a couple of these at Epcot and they are great, I've always loved that format. Atleast Astro Blasters is fun, they initially removed the cinema to make room for the que lines for The Rocket Rods. Too bad this attraction is gone, I think everyone would still love it!
-People Mover. Letting this atraction die in many ways kinda killed the spirit and essence of Tomorrowland. Pm was the thing that tied everything together in a way that made it feel futuristic and I don't think that has been recaptured again. I miss this attraction the most. I miss the moving animation displays thay had while waiting in line, they were very creative!
-The Rockets. Again, they had something unique and imaginative and they "toddlered down" this attraction to it's current state. They could have built a kiddie version and left the original which was high up over Tomorrowland and the elevator to take you up was designed to resemble a launch pad tower. It was so cool and now... it's OK I guess. It really crowded up the entry to Tomorrowland too.
I'll stop now.
