So....who is running a marathon or half this spring? I'm feeling that need to start training again...I know I'll get lazy if I don't get my butt in gear :cool1: . Does anyone else feel that way? Is anyone signed up for big events in the spring? I know there are a bunch of great races coming up...

ING Georgia/Atlanta, Country Music/Nashville, Flying Pig/Cincy, Cleveland Marathon, NJ Marathon/Long Branch, Kentucky Derby, San Diego Rock & Roll, Minnie Marathon, etc. Sooo....where is everyone running?

I need to sign up for big runs to stay motivated. Im in this spring for St Pats 10 miler, Ocean Drive 10 miler, Ocean City 1/2 Marathon and the NJ Marathon.

I just signed up to do the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago March 30 - I wonder how far it is???

My future daughter in law is excited that I'll join her in her racing - its all her fault, she has several races lined up - and the Chicago Distant Classic is one of them -

I cant keep up with her - but I can try!!

We're doin' Minnie and looking for something around Labor Day weekend.

I am currently training for my health and sanity. Participation in organized events: TBD.

DH and I at ING Georgia Half. Might do a couple 10Ks before then... Silver Comet maybe?

The National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer in Jacksonville Beach, Feb 17th.

It's kinda' (that's "kind of" for our northern friends...) close, so it's gonna' (That's "going to" for our, uhhhh,................... never mind) be sloooooooooooooooooow. My friend Jeff, who is OBVIOUSLY on the dark side of the force & keeps DRAGGING me to these things, wants to do a sub 5 hour.

Maybe, maybe not. If we don't H.A. at the start & my feet still work, it might be possible.

In the short term, The Matanzas 5K in town next week.

I am doing the Five Points of Life Half Marathon in Gainesville, Fl on Feb 24th.

No clue, but need to get one to be motivated!

Possibilities:

Breast Cancer Half Marathon in Jacksonville, FL in Feb

or Snickers Half in Albany, GA in March

or even ING Atlanta Half

There's some 5ks and 10ks I might do that are sort of local, but I like the idea of having a half in the future so I make myself train.

My DH has family near Atlanta, in Tallahassee, DC, and Iowa-- all have halfs available. He always says we need to visit... do you think he'd notice if I just slipped out for a quick morning run?:rolleyes1

None of it's very practical since I'm still limping- anyone have a clue how long you have to rest for ITBS to go away?!

Jen in GA

I'm doing the Indianapolis 500 half marathaon, aka: Indy Mini--ironically the same weekend at the Minnie! :)

Well, I will be running the relay with 3 other friends in the spring. My teammates hope to be placed the top 3 so I better get serious soon. :rotfl2:

5ks aside, next up is the Little Rock marathon relay in March. At least I won't have to do this one by myself. ;) The only other scheduled event is the Rock 'n Roll San Antonio Half marathon in November. Oh, and outside of running, I'm going to do the 100K Hotter 'N Hell bike ride in August.

Serious possibilities:

Oklahoma City Memorial Half in April
New York's Women's Half (I can't remember the name of it) in April
Disneyland Half or Virginia Beach Rock 'n Roll for Labor Day
WDW Race for the Taste in October
Nike Women's Half in October
Las Vegas Half in December

Notice how these are all Halfs or shorter. I think it will be a while before I do another full marathon. ;)

I too need a little motivation to get me going.

I have a couple of 5K's in the next 2 months. The first is the Edison Festival of Lights. It is run on the parade route so there are a lot of people cheering you on.

The one I am excited about is the Susan B Koman. What is exciting is that my wife will be participating. That is major accomplishment for her. I talked my daughter and her boyfriend into walking with her. I can run the 5K then swing around and walk it with them. The walk starts 20 minutes after the run so I can easily catch them. I can't wait.

Also will do the Hooter's to Hooter's 1st annual 1/2 marathon here in Ft Myers. I'm almost afraid to see what the "special Hooter's medal" will look like.

Looking at Disneyland but not sure. Our racing season isn't too long because it starts to get hot again real soon.

enjoy,
Duane

Just registered for Disneyland 1/2 in August but that's too far off.

Doing the Caesar Rodney 1/2 Marathon in Wilmington, DE in March.

Broad St Run (10 miles) in Philly is May 4th.

I'm still searching for a local (Mid-Atlantic) marathon.

DH and I at ING Georgia Half. Might do a couple 10Ks before then... Silver Comet maybe?

Hi Shan! I ran the Comet 10k last year and although my time wasn't what I wanted, I liked the event. It was cold and rainy, but the flat course was very welcomed.

For me....maybe the Silver Comet 10k, maybe the ING Atlanta Half, maybe the Flying Pig Half, maybe the Peachtree RR 10k, definitely Disneyland Half and probably Goofy '09! Probably a few 5k's sprinkled in there as well...

Right now, I'm concentrating on May 3, whether I end up at the Minnie or the Long Branch Half. I thought about the Ocean Drive events, but March here at the shore is just too dicey--cold and windy=asthma attack.

I'm shooting for the Capital City Half on April 12th and the Flying Pig (1/2 Marathon) on May 4th. I will try and mix in some 5k's, but at this point those are the two I'm registering for next. Hope the Flying pig doesn't sell out before I have the dough to sign up. :thumbsup2
