I'm having a hard time deciding on which restaurants we want to go to on our next trip. We went last September and liked all the restaurants we went to. This time when we go we wouldn't mind trying different ones, but we are very picky eaters and after looking at the menus, I'm not seeing many that appeal to us.
Last time we went to
Crystal Palace breakfast
Akershus breakfast
Liberty Tree Tavern dinner
1900 Park Fair dinner
Chef Mickey's dinner
This time with we go it will be me, my DH, our DD5 and my parents. It will be my parents first time going to Disney.
So I'm wondering what is everybody's top 3 restaurants and why. Maybe after reading why people like certain restaurants, I'll learn more about them and find a couple new ones to try.

Do you want to try signature restuarants? I will give you our top 3 of both 1TS and 2TS (signature) restaurants:

Signatures
California Grill - The sushi, the scallops, the pork and the view!
Flying Fish - The snapper and the calamari, the boardwalk entertainment
Jiko - The Ribs and the AKL ambience

Regular
Le Cellier - The steak, the mushroom risotto, the soup, the pretzel bread, etc.
Kona - Teriyaki steak, tuna oscar, bread and macadamia nut butter, sticky wings, the Poly!
Ragland Road - The "Its not bleedin chowder", the Scallop Forest, the entertainment, the Guinness, and Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding!

My Top Three, Regardless of Price:

Victoria & Albert's: one of the best in the country.

Todd English's bluezoo: beautiful place with good food and service. Holds up well compared to similar places nationwide.

Flying Fish Cafe: A gem amongst on-property places with creative, chef-driven food.

Top Three Less Costly (1 TS Credit):

Sanaa: lovely space and a good value that manages to appeal to fans of ethnic food as well as to less-adventurous diners. Way better than expected.

Kona Cafe: decent food for all meals. Breakfast is especially good.

Boma, Tokyo Dining, Grand Floridian Cafe, Kouzzina by Cat Cora (can't decide): Boma is the best buffet; TD has decent-enough Japanese food; GFC is calm and competent; Kouzzina because I like Greek/Med food and they do a good job (after a bit of a rocky start).

Can't offer any advice regarding picky eaters (or I'll get in trouble).

My top 3:
Flying Fish
Bistro de Paris
(we eat at the top 2 on every trip)
V&A - only eaten once and not any every trip place for us. plus, now we have 3 little ones so it will be a long time before we go back

Also like Artist Point, Citricos, Narccoosee's (forgot how to spell it) and Boma for dinner and Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch.

1. Citrico's-GF Signature

2. Flying Fish-Boardwalk Signature

3. Columbia Harbour House-MK Counter Serve

Victoria & Alberts

bluezoo

Il Mulino

We are all adults in our group and we prefer quiet, upscale dining. There are few places left at WDW that offer that opportunity.

Family with 2 kids under 7......popcorn::

1. Ohana (our top favorite)
2. Liberty tree tavern
3. 1900 park fare

Worst.....chef mickeys.

Our top 3 restaurants are:

1) Le Cellier lunch is only 1 credit on the DDP whereas the dinner will be a 2 credit, Signature status restaurant, come March. The food is excellent and caters to kids very well (both of my girls, who are 9 and 7, really enjoy this restaurant). The Cheddar Cheese Soup with pretzel bread, the Mushroom Filet with risotto, and the Chocolate "Moose" Dessert is just awesome

2) California Grill at the Contemporary Resort--your DD will love the view of the MK plus watching the fireworks from up there (I am also guessing the rest of your party will like it too ;)). It's a signature restaurant so it is a little bit more on the costly side but the food, service, and atmosphere is so worth it.

3) Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. This is our second favorite character meal (our first favorite is Akershus breakfast but you have already eaten there). The characters interact very well with everyone, young and old. Also, the food is always hot and fresh and the whole atmosphere is just so relaxing and not so rushed and chaotic like some of the other character meal on property.

My top 3 are:

Crystal Palace, we love this restaurant. We always do dinner. So maybe that would be a way to "change it around" a bit.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is another. This is DH's favorite, he loves the bbq skillet. I get the ribeye and haven't been disappointed. It is a fun place and good food.

Ohana is the 3rd restaurant we love. I am a meat and potatoes girl, yet this meal always thrills me. It isn't to "out there" for me, I stick with the salad, noodles, wings and the sirloin. Oh and dessert, you could live on this dessert!!

Kona has excellent food and awesome desserts.

Coral Reef has always had great food and atmosphere is tough to beat.

Le Celliar is well known for top notch steaks. But later this year it goes to 2TS credits on the DDP.

So our next choice would be San Angel. Best Atmosphere at WDW although often crowded. Great food but not typical Mexican and thus not for everyone.

We don't go to many buffets except Boma (no characters). I think they're great for kids because of characters but otherwise a poor value.

I am in the dining planning stage of our next trip too. It's always so hard for me to narrow my favs down, but here goes...

1. Le Cellier - go for lunch and it will only be 1 TS. DH and I love it and so do our kiddos (ages 5-11).

2. Boma - amazing breakfast buffet. Many "standard" items that my picky eaters love as well as some different, and very delicious, options.

3. Cinderella's Castle - everyone should do this once. We did breakfast last time (enjoyed the food) and will be going for dinner this time.

For Counter Service, you can't beat Columbia Harbor House at MK and Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. Both are favs with the adults and kids in my family.

Good luck choosing! :wizard:

My top 3:

Citricos - amazing food and amazing service on every visit, quieter, easy to an get an ADR for
Jiko - great food, love AKL
Flying Fish - wonderful food!

But those are all signatures, so I'll give you my top 3 non-signatures:
Sanaa - delicious and exotic (for Disney), great views, love the decor and feel, and again, love the setting at AKL
Turf Club - good standard American fare, easy to get in to, fairly low-key, nice outdoor dining
Tangierine Cafe (CS) - best CS in all of Disney. Huge portions, so you can easily split a meal here for a good value.

Top 3 for food:
Artist Point
Cali Grill
Flying Fish
Top 3 for experience:
Hoop Dee Doo
Rose&Crown-book it so you can watch Illuminations
CRT-if you're Disney you must do it once. And only once.
I'm leaving V&A and Swan/Dolphin out because they are on a different plane. But looking at your list, don't push your boundry too much. At Disney prices it may not be the best place to experiment. No Disney restaurant is too "out there" so I think you would enjoy many, but why worry about it. Also, IMHO WCC is worst. I can only describe it as mayhem. Like eating a BBQ during a hurricane. But I love HDDR so its just my feeling.

Top 3 for me are:

1. V&A's
2. California Grill
3. Artist Point

I also really enjoy BlueZoo, Flying Fish, and Citricos.

The ones we find ourselves going to the most recently

Kouzzina-sampler or spreads-lamb shank-galakteboureka
Wave-almost every menu item in the last year or so
Kona-most of the apps and entres-creme brulee and pineapple upsidedown cake

those are our faves for now FF,Le Cellier,Coral Reef are past faves

For special nites out V&A or Il Mulino

Top 3, in order:
1) Chefs De France
2) Liberty Tree Tavern
3) Mama Melrose

Top 2, we do every visit

Thanks for all the input. I have a few more ideas now. Has anybody ate at Biergarten? My parents would like to to try it. I've read that you are seated with other people, what are opionions on that?

Also I'm trying to decide whether or not we want to do the DDP. I believe that the tax is included in the plan, but the tip is not. How much is the tax at FL restaurants?

is communal seating with most tables consisting of eight seats. Inevitably at one time or another a family will be seated with a group that doesn't want to converse.

Some people have a lot of problem with that. I personally don't. If we were sitting at another restaurant we would be at our own table and I would be talking with my group. At Biergarten that may happen or you may have other people to talk to. Now I haven't had a problem with an obnoxious group just insular ones so I only see the communal tables as upsides.

Sales tax for most of Disney is 6.5%. That's for Orange County. All Star Resorts are in Osceola County and have a 7.0%sakes tax rate. I believe the DDP is taxed at 6.5%.
