What are you saving for?

Disney trip, May 2011!

I'm also saving up to buy DP a Nook for her birthday. Shhh.... don't tell her. ;)

Not saving much right now. Trying to pay off our pool loan as quickly as possible. Biggest tip is to make a budget and stick to it.

Jr/Sr High tuition. DS starts 7th grade in the fall. Tuition is $8250/year for 7th & 8th grades and $8650/year for 9th-12th grades. Hmm--looks like $51,100 before tuition rate increases!

Disney this October with my mom.

Our family cruise in June to celebrate oldest DS graduation.

Paying for my daughters college!
It is my goal for them to have zero college loan debt!

Oh.....and Disney summer of 2011~

A house! We are fortunate to already have a home, but it's really too small for us. (One bathroom. Enough said.)
We have a bit of equity in the house, but we'll need to have more than that to get a slightly bigger house in a good neighborhood.
I have enjoyed the challenge of making our money stretch. (It's amazing how much money I have frittered away on silly purchases in the past.)

An above ground pool! With the temperatures be above average this year I am tempted to finance one but I know I will enjoy it much more if I can pay cash for it next year.

1-We are two weeks away (crossing fingers Murphey stays away) from paying off one vehicle. It will be the first time in our marriage we have had no car payment. This has been an uphill battle and it feels so GOOD to be this close.

2-After the car is paid, the next 'snowball' (a la Dave Ramsey) we are doing a much needed repair project on our home.

3-Building EF, saving for vehicle upgrade and 2012 Disney trip. By the time we go on the trip in 2012 we should have all these steps done-although the car savings we may hang onto until DH's car dies

A two week vacation to Hawaii next May. We are going for our 15th anniversary and taking the kids.

Also saving for a Vegas trip in November and just building a general savings account.

it is hard to decide.....food, next month's mortgage payment, and next month's utility bills. kind of hard with both laid off...oh yeah, but the economy is improving right :sad1:

I LOVE the forrester...i also want it for my next car hoping not for atleast a year or so..

I am saving (1) for a new car (2) for my sons braces (3) family cruise next year (4) my son's bar mitzvah in 3 years..

I have accounts set up for each and put a certain amount in each monthly.

We're saving to pay cash for a new car (probably a Forester). We'll be buying it next spring. We've been putting money in a saving account for several years now and have the money to buy it already so anything in there now is just gravy.

Saving for a down payment for a house & a 2011 Disney vacation.

My boyfriend just moved back in with me after getting a better paying job closer to home, which cuts our rent in half for each of us. I just paid my car off too. All that extra money goes toward the house savings. I have $50 a month put into savings automatically to put toward the trip as well as any rewards we get off our Disney VISA. We also do a change jar which we can save about $100 in every three to four months.

I think my best advice and what I try to follow is to set your budget, and stick with it. Don't get complacent! Happy Savings!

We're saving for a few things: we have an ongoing Christmas fund, and I've started a college fund for our baby, but our big savings plan is that we're hoping to combine a trip to Europe to visit friends with getting a new car. :)

I am saving for a new car....I am finally going to treat myself to a new car once I have enough....seriously thinking a new Lexus SUV. It's been so long since I've had a new car and being able to pay cash will be great on the budget.

The kids and I have been following the "couponing to disney blog" and she saved for a DW vacation with "Found Money" rebates, etc. So I told the kids about it and we were inspired. So we went to the bank 2 weeks ago and opened up a seperate account. Every Monday is deposit day, we deposit all our spare change, rebate money and any spare singles that are in our wallet. In 2 weeks we have $189. Our goal is $3,500 by next August so we can go to DW. I'm excited and I'm teaching my kids the value of saving for something and the value of money.

besides christmas college and retirement

always saving for the next 'new to us' vehicles..hopefully several years off [5]

next just us vacation probably mexico for hubby and i

A trip to Hawaii. Never been there and thought it would be wonderful to celebrate our 25th anniversary there. We have three years to save.

Hey Stitchnut, that is what I am saving for too! My 25th anniversary was last Aug, and when DH and I sat down and realized how we wanted to celebrate (Hawaii!) we realized we did not have enough time to save for it. :headache: So, our plan is to go next June instead. We just got some major expenses out of the way (large down payment on a new vehicle, a new furnace, and some tile work that needed fixing), so are now in focused savings mode for our trip. Our family is back on a strict budget. We are putting all of DHs OT into our Hawaii account, and I am setting money from our paychecks aside too. I am used to being able to pull a $3-4K trip together realtively quickly because of our disposable income situation, but it is not so easy when the trip you want to take is 3-4X what you normally spend on a vacation.
