1st sorry all for the multiple posts.... should have used the multiple quote button :guilty:

Anyways... I am considering purchasing an electronic reading device - possibly a Kindle - not sure yet. What happened to yours? And was it worth the investment? I can buy a lot of books for what one of these costs....

Definitely worth it for me, and my problem was just a fluke that Amazon took care of with one less than 10 minute phone call. I purchased mine the first part of March, since then I have devoured probably 10 or more books, msot of them free from the Kindle site. I also utilized points accrued by my bank's Visa check card (we use it almost exclusively) to get a $100 Amazon.com gift certificate that I have used to help feed my reading addiction. :) On Sunday morning I turned my Kindle on after charging it overnight. An approximately 1 inch long section of the top of the screen was distorted, almost like bleeding over from prior pages. I called Kindle support and the guy talked me through some rebooting steps, which did not alleviate the problem. He confirmed my customer info and said "your replacement will ship out tomorrow(Monday), next day, you should have it on Tuesday. I'm emailing you a return label for UPS to ship back the defective unit. Sorry for you inconvenience." Painless as that. I wish everything in life was that easy, so yes, I would say it's worth it. I have not fully explored all of the extras on the unit, but there are several other DIS members here like DVC Liz that were super helpful and encouraging to me as I contemplated the purchase.

IMO, if you have the disposible income to afford it, by all means, do. BTW, if you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone, you can download the Kindle app for those devices for free.

Agree the 4th book was just okay....

I don't know that I agree with the "young girls" for the Twighlight series. The first book yes... but the latter books I don't know that I could recommend this to "young" girls :confused3

Well, my 16 year old DD's enjoy them, as do my junior high dance students, so that's what I meant by young............teen girls.

I know many ages enjoy them actually. In fact my mother, sister & SIL all like them. I just didn't find them as great as I had anticipated by all the hoopla surrounding them, but I did think they would be enjoyable for the teen crowd.

Ah okay I can agree with that :thumbsup2 When I think young girls I think 12-13 age range and the first book would be okay but the last 3.... a bit too mature in my opinion.

The Twighlight series was definitely not the "next" Harry Potter in my opinion but an entertaining continuation series :)

I have the Kindle app on my iTouch but the screen is too small to read much comfortably.... Hmmm reading is one of my fave hobbies so this is very tempting ;)

I am currently reading Dragonfly in Amber, which is the second book in the Outlander series.

Can I just say that I hope a man like Jamie really exists in the world?! And when I find him, he's all mine. ;)
