What Are You Reading Right Now?

Just finished all the Harry Potter books. I had read the first 6, but not the last, so I reread the first 6 and the last one. SO worth it! In between books right now, though I am casually scanning a biography of Houdini.:wizard:

Check this out, if you've just gone through the entire Harry Potter saga:

I picked it up because I needed something to read for a hour or so, and was again reminded of why I like JK Rowling so much.

I am now reading

I think David Sedaris is a hilarious essayist, and I really like his work.

I just finished "The Tenth Circle." It wasn't my favorite of Jodi Picoult's.

Anyway, I'm off to the library to pick up "Friday Night Knitting Club." I guess that will be next.

Yesterday I also finished "The Tales of Beedle Bard." I thought they were cute little stories, and a nice companion to the Harry Potter Series. I need to re-read book 7 now.

The Tenth Circle was not my favorite by her either. I am just about finished with Change of Heart. Good concept, but I wish she would have focused on why the main character committed the murders instead of his character itself. I wish she would have told the story of the victims more.

I read the Friday Night Knitting Club. It was OK - it dragged a bit or me, but it wasn't horrible.

I got done reading The Shack by William P. Young last week.

Now I'm starting the Shopaholic series.

Yep, many of the same ideas, some new approaches/opinions to the same ideas, and some ideas I've never even considered before or heard of.

It's a little denser than freakonomics and the beginning where he talks about becoming a behavioral economist because he was a burn victim as a child is a little hard to read (sad), but once you get past that and into the behavioral stuff it's pretty fascinating...

Thanks! it may make it onto my Kindle!

OT but a quick question about the Kindle, can you download stuff you've already read onto an external hard drive or something or do you have to keep everything on the Kindle? I read quite a lot and if there's nowhere to store your already read library I'm no better off than with all of my books.

I am reading Getting Naked Again, going through a divorce and I think I was hit on Sunday night by the Applebee's manager, long story but I will check him (it) out!:woohoo:

I liked The Shack very much. I gave me a lot to think about. People are telling me I should read it again, that you even pick up more the second time.

I can't remember.......is it fiction or non-fiction? I thought it was fiction.

Last night I was going through a box of my mother's stuff (she passed away in October). My dad put a bunch of stuff of hers together that he thought I would enjoy. In the box was a copy of the book "84 Charing Cross Road". I gave it to my mom years ago, and now it's back in my possession! If you've never read this book DO IT NOW! It truly is a feel good book. Absolutely lovely! It was also made into a great movie with Anthony Hopkins several years ago. Wonderful!

I'm about halfway through "Friday Night Knitting Club" and I agree that it moves too slowly. It has the potential to be a feel good book (like the Elm Creek Quilt books), but just doesn't quite make it.

I'm re-reading The Bachman Books by Stephen King for the umteenth time.

He has a new book out but I'm not spending $28.00 for the hardback...he doesn't need my money.
:snooty:

I think I might have replied to you on another thread, but I think you can download things to your computer to store them. You can also just send them back to Amazon - they back up any of your purchases. Go over to the Kindle chat forums on Amazon.com - they will know. There was a pretty big hue and cry because the new Kindle takes away the option to store everything on an SD card (I never used it so it wasn't a big deal to me, but then again I buy all my content from Amazon so I just send it back for them to store when I am done.) I do think I remember seeing that people were putting things on their computer - that's not an expert answer, though, so you might go browse a little because I bet someone else has a much better answer for you than I do!!!

I just started Handle with Care, Jodi Picoult's newest book. So far it's fantastic! One of the most (if not THE most) interesting books I've ever read. Now, I'm only about 10% of the way into it, so my love affair with it could end. I'd love to hear from anyone dealing with the issue to learn how realistic you think it is.

I almost forgot-they start out with a family trip to WDW, staying at the Contemporary, remembering WDW commercials, stuff in the MK, etc. For a Disney fan, that's kind of neat!

I just noticed yesterday that she had this new book out. I can't wait to read it. I will probably wait until paperback (well, maybe :goodvibes ) because I have so many on my shelf to read right now.

I usually purchase my books because I pass them on to my DD's & others.

I finished "Friday Night Knitting Club" and it was ok. Nothing I'd run out to read over again, but overall enjoyable. I felt like it took way too long to get to the meat of the book.

Next up is Cormac McArthy's "All the Pretty Horses." Just have to find time to get to the library today to pick it up. With all the kids home from school, it night not happen until tomorrow.

Just finished Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. Started great, ended good, middle was OK - thought the story would have been told a different way & I think I would have liked it more if it was.

Am now reading The Space Between Us. Can't remember the author, but it is someone new that I have never read before. Takes place in the slums of India (at least I think that's where it is :goodvibes )
