Just finished Vampire Lestat.

Switching from vampires to Julie & Julia by Julie Powell. Okay so far.

I loved Julie & Julia and would recommend it to anyone who loves to cook. I recently finished Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult and really enjoyed(if that's the right word ) it. It was about a high school shooting and about how it pretty much sucks to be a teenager. It was a very engaging read but very emotional. I couldn't put it down. I'm not sure what's next for me. All I have lying around are non-fiction-The Omnivore's Dilemma and Under the Banner of Heaven.

I did something stupid.... I started reading the following books alll at the same time:

- Spook by Mary Roach
- The Kite Runner
- Tell Me Where it hurts
- The Selfish Gene

I just picked up Spook last weekend but haven't started it yet. And I have about 100 pages of The Kite Runner left to read.

I just finished Friday Night Knitting Club. I did enjoy it, but the previous poster was right about the end feeling rushed. It's like the author was trying to wrap everything up in a nice neat package.

It made me a little sad, the way she finished it. I felt like something was missing. I'd enjoyed the rest of the book so much!

I picked up Jen Lancaster's Such A Pretty Fat at the bookstore yesterday and read it in one sitting last night. Hilarious and full of sarcasm, which is a perfect break from my biology class readings this summer.

Have you read her others? I didn't realize she'd previously written others, so I just started Bitter Is the New Black.

just zoomed through Plague Ship by Clive Cussler at the beach. Read from cover to cover in a little over 24 hours. Next up is either more Laurell K Hamilton or the last Jim Butcher Dresden Filed hardback. Then I'll go back and finish the new Mary Higgins Clark.

My Antonia by Willa Cather.

I will admit it was required reading for a literature class, but I really liked it.
It was one of the first required reading that I truly enjoyed.

Wow, I just read this entire thread and took lots of notes!

Right now I am reading How (Not) To Have the Perfect Wedding which is a entertaining fluff book. It's about a single wedding, and every chapter is from a different person's perspective. The bride's, the groom's, the wedding planner's, the bridesmaid's, the unhappy guests, the caterer's, etc. It is a quick read, and pretty funny.

I finished The Thirteenth Tale, New Moon and Dead Until Dark this week. I have to go to the library today to get something new to read.

The Thirteenth Tale was good, but it dragged when the biographer's life was being discussed. When the person giving the biographer information's story was told, I was glued to the book.

New Moon started slow, but picked up and I can't wait for Eclipse to be available at the library. I'm 4th on the hold list.

Dead Until Dark was very good... a different look at vampires from the Twilight series.

I checked and Interview with a Vampire is in stock at my library branch, so I'm going to try to get that book. I'm definitely on a vampire kick lately.

Now I am reading Bleeding Kansas by Sara Paretsky. Not my favorite book ever, but still a good story. I LOVE her V. I. Warshawski series set in Chicago. They made an awful movie starring Kathleen Turner in the early 90's with V. I., but it was laughably bad. The books are terrific and comparable to Sue Grafton and her A is for Alibi series or Marcia Muller's female detective books.

Who was the mother of the "third child"? Geez, I can't even remember her name now & she was one of the main characters - the "author" of the 12 tales? Did they ever say who her mother was & I missed it or what?

Almost forgot - I'm reading Beach Girls right now by LuAnne Rice. It's a fun, easy read. Some of her books I really enjoy & others are just OK. I'm really enjoying this one right now.

I think next up will be Twilight.

Have your read Interview with the Vampire yet? It is the first of the Vampire Chronicles. While you do not need to read it to start with Lestat, but if you are planning on reading the entire Chronicle, I would start with Interview, IMO.
