I am trying to think of some new ideas for my kids Easter Baskets? They are 9 & 6 and I always tend to do bubbles, chalk and jump ropes. This year I am trying to think of some other items but I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

Here is what I have so far in my DDs baskets. They are 19 and 15, so might be a little different than you want.

Hogwarts House Crest Tshirt (for our trip to Universal this summer)
Hogwarts House Quidditch Tshirt
Coloring book
Magazine subscription
travel curling iron
travel flat iron
Dr. Who coffee mug
Glee small dry erase board, "To do" list notepad, small notebook
Hair scrunchies
Barretts
chocolate bunny, some chocolate eggs, mentos gum

I put it all in a Lands End Monogrammed bag that someone posted about being on a great sale a month or so ago. That's their "basket".

For dd's, I'm giving them webkinz ($5 at target), frisbee/aerobies, small puzzles, portable "card" games (life, sorry), parachute bunny's, singamajig for younger dd (she always plays with it at store, lol), rubik's cube for older dd (addicted to dh's), bubbles, egg plants (real flower plants, just come in small egg container at first).. few other things, but that's all i can remember off the top of my head. And of course, a chocolate bunny, :)

I think we're going to pare down on the candy and trinkets. They have too much stuff. They usually get more candy than they can handle (and/or I can handle) :) .

We are going smaller scale and we'll do something special as a family.

ETA- I do like the rice crispy eggs I've seen on tv. That would be fun to make and something different.

Great ideas! My search engine just started working and I realize that this was posted already so I apologize.

Thanks again for the ideas and I love the LL Bean idea!

2 small lego sets, DS game, pajamas and two new shirts. He won't be excited about that lol, but its a tradition , my mom always gave new spring clothes , and pjs . Gonna try to find some of the new lego mini figures , pretzel MM's , 4 new books and a tube of kids toothpaste, I never buy it but Santa and Bunny always bring it lol. I might try to find a few other goodies, but maybe not. Bunny, Santa and the Valentine Fairy ; ) tend to bring quite a bit , but I don't buy much during the year. This year we leave for vacation 3rd week in May for 2 weeks. I am thinking I might scale back Bunny so that he can get a few new treats for the car ride, and a cpl new board games for the cabin.

My DD7 Easter basket includes a 30 day countdown for our May WDW vacation !! she has no idea ! It also includes personalized Minnie PJ's and tshirts from the Disney store, Tangled, Tinker Bell DS game, Princess body wash, The Kids Guide to Magic book and a few other small things including candy. I cant wait to surprise her !!

My son, daughter-in-law and grandkids are moving next month (to my town, yay!) so we're not giving too much stuff at Easter (she doesn't want more to pack!).

I found a set of really cute bowls, each a different colour, with birds on them, so I am going to make some homemade treats (mini-muffins, cookies, bars, etc.), put them in plastic bags, and fill a bowl for each grandchild, and make up a treasure hunt for them to find them. I think they'll be just as happy with the homemade treats, and I can keep the bowls here for when they visit if they don't want to take them home.

My ds13's Easter Basket so far:

new Britney Spears cd
Kingdom Keepers IV
Twizzlers (a treat since he has braces now)
short jammies
I-tune gift card
McDonald's gift card
Dunkin Donuts gift card
School shirt
"squeezy" School mascot
cat toys (we have 3 and 5 month old kittens, he loves to play with them)
Whatever catches my eye, probably at least one blu-ray

When he was younger I would include -- swim goggles, swim shirt and suit, blow up pool toys, small toys of whatever he was into -- Pokemon, Ben10, Star Wars, etc., special eggs with money in them, small Disney Plush, etc.

A Kite:thumbsup2, disney cars, the sandlot dvd (classic), a new pair of shorts and a shirt, temporary tattoo-s, juice bags, crackers with cheese, the snacky stuff I "never" let him have (that will help us get through baseball season), and water squirters

For DS11

2 Lego games (Walmart has them on clearance for $4 a piece)
Soccer shin guards
Lots of candy!!

In the past we have gone a bit overboard with Easter, giving new bikes, video games, etc. This year we're trying to keep it to about $25 a basket for each child.

We are giving them each a webkinz/mazin' hamster 2 pack from Walgreens, bubbles, an Easter book (one is getting Fancy Nancy and one is getting Hop), and bunch of different kinds of candy from the sale at Walgreens this week. We might add a couple more small toys in there, but they don't need much.

They also get baskets from my mom AND my in-laws, so they are spoiled enough.

I work in retail and they stuff some people buy IMO is crazy. It's not Christmas or a birthday. To me, those two are of a gift-giving time than with an Easter basket.

One more question, does everyone buy regular candy for baskets or do you get Easter themed candy? I ask because in our area, many people just do regular, everyday candy and I think that's a little weird. We always buy special Easter candy.

We don't have big Easter basket things in my house. I'm getting DS (teenager) some Reese's Pieces in that plastic baggie shaped like a carrot. I'll also give him a $2 scratch off lottery ticket. That's about it for our house.

I'm done shopping for Easter basket stuff, I finished earlier this week. :) I didn't get too much stuff this year, I think I did pretty good actually. :) I got them candy (of course), bubble wands ($2 at Michael's), sidewalk chalk ($1 at Target), socks ($1 & $2 at Target) some posters to color and canvas to paint (from Michael's $1-3). I might add a $10 iTunes gift card for each of them but I haven't decided yet...and I think I might grab them each a travel size lotion from B&BW and maybe a $5 gift card to the frozen yogurt place they both love but that's it. :) So about $25 each on their baskets this year, that's pretty good I think. :)

Oh and I always buy Easter themed candy....was in Target a couple days ago and they were 100% OUT of Easter colored M&M's.....ummmm what?????

I'll have to look for the Kingdom Keepers book, DD loved them when she was younger and although she may be too old now at 15, she might like an easy read! I loved them too!
I am getting Starbucks, Disney, Aeropostale (she'll need summer clothes anyway!) and iTune gift cards. A new golf shirt and shoes (she needs that too). Also a little of her favorite candy and lots of gum!!! I just found a Bath and Body set I get for 75% off a few months ago so I'll add that.

For DD6
HSM 2 & 3 DVDs
one book
glitter headbands
gap flip flops w/ glitter straps
AG papers
and some other small things.

For DD3.5 -- Leap Frog DVDs, a Fancy Nancy book, glitter headbands, and Zoopal plates. She has been asking for these plates.:confused3 And some other small things. Also found Barbie Fairies @ Target for 1.36 each! I bought them each 2, one purple & one pink.

I am very excited.

When did Easter become the new Christmas??? :confused3
My kids will get candy, candy and some candy. ;)
Most of it is Easter Candy, (Cadbury eggs, Peeps, Dove eggs, a chocolate bunny) but I have some King Sized Hershey Bars and Peanut Butter Cups I got for free so I am stuffing those in too.

Lego Minifigures and some littlest pet shop pets plus some wall decor for my daughter. Candy of course.
