What are you paying for gas? I just don't understand.

We are now paying $2.63/gallon.

I don't want this to turn into some debate re: the President, how much the European's are paying, or the Arab conglomerate, but has something happened that I am unaware of? It has jumped $.60 in the last two months.

Just curious...

It's jumping because I have to drive to Chicago next weekend! LOL! Seems like everytime I am driving any kind of distance the gas jumps then comes back down after I come home.

I paid $2.69 yesterday, today it is $2.87 (this is Long Island, NY)

$2.41 on the way to work this morning - $2.79 on the way home!!!

I think I paid around 2.55 the other day. I don't think it's anything other then they know we'll pay so they keep the prices high to make an even bigger profit.

We are in the $2.60s......I think it is b/c it is Spring Break season and they are taking advantage of all the travelers--and it will only happen again for summer.

Here it is $2.57 on up for regular unleaded. There is a gas station nearby who starts off at 2.59 on up, but all of their unleaded tanks are closed :rolleyes1 so if people want the gas from there they have to pay 2.70 on up. Now, there is gas station close to it and they have all their unleaded tanks up for around the same price as the 1st gas station was for their unleaded-I think they try to be sneaky. But we are all slaves to the gas thing. There is now debate whether to try to drill for oil off VA. Beach. The gas stations know we will keep driving so they can price it anyway they want.

I paid $2.69 yesterday. Don't know if there was any change in the price today or not.

can you give us a head's up on your schedule Nancy so we know when to fill up - lol

Wednesday, April 5, 2006: NYMEX West Texas Intermediate for May delivery closed up $0.84 at $67.07 per barrel.

Do the math. The raw product keeps getting more expensive. It is almost as high as it was post Katrina. It's market pricing.

It's 2.74-2.75/gal at the 2 stations closest to us, which tend to be the cheapest in our area, but our county has high taxes. The prices in our area were the same last Saturday, but we were in another county and the prices were 2.60-2.65/gal.

2.51-2.54 around me...wow it sounds like I have a deal compared to some of you. :confused3

There has been unrest and violence in one of the African oil exporting countries. Iran's "war equipment show" isn't playing well on the world market and summer is coming and the new summer EPA formulations are more costly. Time to think AGAIN about drilling in Alaska.

:teeth: I'll be returning on the 17th...after that no road trips in the near future..maybe summer time if I'm lucky!

BTW...gas today was 2.67 here

Could be time to think about better fuel effeciency standards.

I get the whole "market price" thing...except for this.....why doesn't the
cost go down per gallon as fast when oil drops, as fast as it goes up
when oil goes up???

This is more price gouging by big oil, pure and simple.

Its around $2.50 a gallon on a good day. They know they can charge whatever they want.... we have to pay it. *grumble grumble* :furious:
