What are you most excited about for this summer?

Today is the first day of summer, let the fun begin!!!

The thing that has me the most excited happens tonight! My oldest daughter and her husband are arriving late tonight and will be spending a month with us! They finished grad school in May and will be teaching in the fall, so their summer is free. They left Arizona a few days ago and are driving across country. Every time they hit a new state my daughter sends me a text message on my phone. So far I've gotten texts from Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. I talked to her on the phone last night and they were planning on driving to Ohio and spending the night around Columbus.

I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited that everyone will be here for most of the summer. DS25 is here and DD15 can't wait for her sister to arrive tonight. My husband has been in Connecticut on business and he also is expected home this evening. DD15 has friends coming over tonight, so it looks like it's going to be a full house. Just the way I like it!!!!

So, I'm most excited about having everyone here this summer, but I'm also excited about:

*The release of Pirates of the Caribbean 2
*Swimming, sunning, and cooking-out poolside
*Spending a long weekend in New York City and going to see Spamalot
*Planning youngest daughter's sweet sixteen party

We just got back from our 1st week of summer in which we spent it at WDW!! That was fun.

Now, I look forward to having lunch with various girlfriends, going to the casino with my Mom and our 3 day family trip to Mackinaw City next month.

Painter starts painting our main floor today - kitchen, bedroom, den, 2 bathrooms, dining/living - will take her about 7 working days
Next Fri (June 30) Im taking DS14 and his friend to the White Mtns in NH for 6days. First time taking a friend for DS.
Just adopted 2 bunnies
Two week family WDW vacation 8/12-26
And we hired a grass man

Then end of it! On Sept 9th we fly to WDW for our first trip as DVC members for one week. Then were off to our first 7 day Disney cruise! Sorry but I can't wait for the summer to end!

It sounds like you're going to have a great summer, luvflorida!

I was looking forward to DH's father, brother, and SIL coming over from England for a visit but now their plans have changed. Depending on their itinerary, we may try to go visit for a week when they're in Santa Fe and then head up to Farmington, NM to visit with our old friends from when we used to live there. That's still up in the air now, though.

I'm working part-time for the summer which is great but my days off have been a bit weird in accommodating for everyone else's vacations. I'm looking forward to using some of the days I've accumulated to just hang out with dh.

And, it sounds kind of mean, but I'm looking forward to dd visiting her dad for 3 weeks (starting Saturday.) I love having her around but it will be nice to have a break from teenagers for a bit and get some stuff done around the house instead of chauffeuring and feeding them all.

We're going on a little day trip to Schlitterbahn water park in the next few weeks. I'm excited about that.

I'm excited about having my son around since he just got out of school, getting the cast that's on my right arm removed before it gets too hot (next Tuesday), Pirates of the Caribbean 2, going to see American Idol Top 10 in Atlantic City in July, going to the beach to watch the Air Show with the kids in Atlantic City in August, spending tons of time with my two kiddies, swimming in our pool and then I'll look forward to the end of summer because in Sept we're going to DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

1.) Vacation Bible School

2.) DH finishing up the siding on our house. Every contractor needs their
own contractor.

3.) A couple of day trips that we have planned for the kids.

4.) Harvesting all of those yummy vegetables from our garden.

I'm looking forward to:

1. Our vacation in Nova Scotia... not the normal type of locale we go to so I'm pretty excited!

2. Fourth of July my husband, sister and I will be going whitewater rafting, something I've never done.

3. My son's first birthday is in August; I can't believe he won't be a baby anymore!

We've been out of school for a month, so we're knee-deep in the summer thing around here. What we still have to look forward to....

Watching DD7 at her first hip-hop performance on Thursday.

An overnight trip to OKC with 30 of my closest friends this weekend.

Watching DD7 play with her best friend, who moved away over Christmas, next week. It'll be like old time around here for a few days.

Traveling to my parents' for the week of the 4th of July and getting to see my entire family...especially my one-month-old nephew.

Spending a long weekend in Dallas at a great hotel and taking in yet another Kenny Chesney concert while we're there.

Our annual end-of-summer trip to San Antonio.

In between all these "big" events, we're loving spending the days outside at the pool, or simply sleeping in because there's nothing we HAVE to do that day.

The end of it. That's right, I actually want to go back to school. I want hockey season to start again. I want to see my friends. Plus we didn't really have a winter this year (barely any snow) so I'm hoping that next winter brings a TON of snow

I was going to say seeing the sun, after all the rain we've had in the last month, but they're now saying we're supposed to get more rain this weekend. So I guess I can't even really look forward to swimming. I'm working part time this summer, for someone other than my dad, so I'm not exactly thrilled about that either

My cruise in August! It will be hectic getting there but it is a much needed vacation.
