What are you making for dinner this Halloween night?

Parents of trick or treaters, do you even try to feed them dinner? What do you usually make? I generally make a pot of chillie, but I think that actually, the kids just eat candy.

Any ideas for warm cozy meals?

Our cul-de-sac does a potluck in the street before trick-or-treating, so everyone brings a different dish. I'm making cocktail meatballs, other people are bringing hot dogs, chili, etc. :)

Fish sticks and french fries. Not healthy, but quick.

Cool idea.

I am making cheesy-potato hotdish. The kids love it and it is something that is good warmed up if they come back hungry.

So you really DO call it "hotdish" in Minnesota?!

I was going to make the kids tomato soup and make "spider webs" in it with green sour cream and "bbq worm sandwichs" (cut hotdogs in to long strips, fry them, and add bbq sauce- serve on a hamburger bun). But, now I found out that my mom and MIL/FIL will all be over for dinner so they can all take the kids out T or T'ing. I think it will now be worms in spaghetti sauce for dinner, with bones (breadsticks) on the side.

D'oh! You beat my thread by 3 minutes!!!

We're having our "traditional" meal. ;)

You do that in OHIO? What hardy people you must be! I know that folks in Texas do that, but we'll probably be complaining about the cold here this year - a front is blowing through and it will be in the 50s by trick or treat time. (We've had lots of Halloweens in the 80s.)

Yes we do, that wasn't just a movie stunt. :rotfl2:

Well, fortunately it's going to be in the 60's here today, but in past years, we've just wheeled out a portable firepit and gotten a good fire going to help everyone stay a little warmer. But, yeah, in general, we're pretty hearty here -- anything above freezing is ok with us. :thumbsup2

No joke! Growing up in Rochester, NY, we rarely went two years in a row without worrying about the chance of snow on halloween!

Sonic has 5 burgers for 5.00 after 5 today-that sounds good to me.

In 1991, it was in the 20s here on Halloween. I remember it because it was my son's first Halloween. We had ZERO trick or treaters.

I'm just going to pick up some chicken so as soon as we eat, we can start ToTing.

I bought a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken (in herbs). Going to have some squash & broccoli on the side. I think I'm going to have to bake the squash and put cheese on it (squash casserole) to get the kids to eat it tonight! In fact, if it doesn't have sugar on it, it might not get eaten at all!

I'm going to have to make a mad dash to McDonald's for something fast so I can get my little ones ready to trick-or-treat. pirate:

Reservations!!! Going to Rainforest Cafe at DTD in anaheim and trickor treating at California Adventure. Have fun everyone!

Our TOT is from 5-6 so we are going out to dinner afterwards. But growing up my parents were mean. :rotfl: They would make things like split pea soup and liver and onions that we would have to eat before we could go out. Still to this day my sister and I give them a hard time because they tortured us on halloween every year.

Oh, that sounds like fun! Are the parks typically crowded on Halloween?
