I am not quite sure but I know that I need to get on it!

and my "famous" Caribbean Rum Cakes (like Tortuga brand); May try to make Florentine Cookies this year and some homemade/organic brownies and fudge. We usually do Rib Eyes or Prime Rib Roast for dinner and I will probably make some type of twice baked potato casserole and greens with it, maybe pancetta and brussel sprouts. I am also hoping to make some organic breads and rolls. I hope to make ahead and freeze. Good Luck on your planning! Hope someone posts some easy candy recipes!

Following this post. DH is getting me a Kitchenaid stand mixer for Christmas this year. He has promised I can have it before Christmas to use for holiday baking & cooking, so I will be looking for lots of yummy stuff to make with it!

Funny, I thought this thread would be about making crafty gifts, an everyone seems to be talking about foods.

Are you willing to share the recipe for the run cake? :santa:

Can we get past Thanksgiving or at least Halloween before we talk Christmas?

1.) If we're talking about making things, as in crafts, then no way can it wait that late!! This being near the end of September is already pushing it for those of us with jobs and lives. I'm glad this thread came along -- I need some ideas, and fast! Unless this is about making food stuff for actual Christmas, then I'm out, lol.

2.) It's never too early for Christmas, period. :goodvibes :santa:

If you don't want to talk about Christmas yet, how about not opening threads with "Christmas 2014" in the title? Seems like an easy fix...

Or since this is a public forum I can give my opinion and you can give yours. We don't have to agree with each other but we are both entitled to have our opinions.

I've started a knitted cowl for my mum for Christmas. I love to knit gifts, but I'm slow so I work on them practically all year. I'm also making 'snuggies' for my 2 sons and my husband which won't take long as they're made from fleece. I'll probably get to those in October some time!! I would love to make some new ornaments for the tree and to give as gifts this year. I would love any ideas anyone has. :santa:

I am a Pinterest addict so I always have a million ideas running around there. I saw these and thought they would be nice for grandparents. http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/5e/20/2c/5e202cbe489cc851629393cc30ff8160.jpg I would get a glittery pen and write the year on it.

And here are more ornaments I like that:

Yes you can...now back to the purpose of the thread which is what are we making!

I was thinking of doing throw blankets, but I am slowly coming to the close of my window of opportunity as I need to make three of them and I am not speedy with the crochet hook!

I love the map ball ornaments in the links. It would be a budget twist on a souvenir ornament from family vacations!

I want to make some holiday goodies for DH's co-workers. They really stepped up and covered his job for him while he was out with me in the hospital having surgery. I know I will be making flourless chocolate muffins to send to DH's co-worker who has gluten issues but I'm looking for ideas for the rest of them. I saw this recipe for Bacon Chocolate Bark I am considering.

I am also pondering some kind of chocolate-bacon or maple-bacon combo for DS's 9th birthday cake in October.

This thread reminds me that I saw some glitter covered foam gingerbread men at the Dollar Tree that I meant to buy. I bought some last year. I hole-punched their heads and hung them on my trees. They looked especially good on the white tree in my entry way.

I have made the crayon and etched glass ornaments. :goodvibes
Not sure if I really like how the crayon ones came out :rolleyes2 but I love love the etched glass ones.

Not for Christmas but I bought one of the carvable pumpkins I have wanted a few years. I did Mickey and Minnie kissing

Keep the ideas coming. :surfweb:

If you want to express YOUR opinion please don't use the word WE. Yes you can skip Christmas entirely as far as I am concerned, but please don't tell me what "we" should be doing.

Posting something like "I want to get past Thankgiving or at least Halloween before I talk Christmas" would not imply that you want OTHERS to stop.

But then maybe you really did mean tell us all to shut up. And if you want to try to make others post according to your wishes - well you can post anything that doesn't violate forum rules.

I'm not really crafty so not making any of my Christmas gifts, except maybe a few ornament crafts with the kiddos & a gingerbread house. :)

As for food...making shrimp scampi for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day is ham & lasagna!

A few years ago I ordered a kit on line to make stepping stones and the kids made personalized stepping stones for all the grandparents. They seemed to really like them and it was a fun project.

I'm on Pinterest a lot, so I'm not sure why I didn't think of checking for ideas there! That's what I'll be doing when I get home from work!! Thanks for the idea!
