What are you going to do with your refund check?

If you are getting a tax credit, what are you going to do with the money?

We are getting $800. We just scheduled our Yukon to go into the shop. The anti-lock brakes are coming on at slow speeds, the air conditioner is broke and it may need new shocks.

Not too a fun way to spend money, huh?

It is going in our trip fund. We are going to Germany in three weeks and then we are going to Greece in October and it will give us some added spending money.

I'm still not even sure that we'll get any? How do you know if you get one? Did the gov. send anything to fill out?
When will the checks come to the people who are entilted?

I deposited our $400 last Friday afternoon and then 30 seconds later paid it on my Visa card. I stimulated the economy a few months ago so nothing fun for us!

Same thing I do with all tax refunds: pay my business taxes!

Hnymoon@Dixie, you're to get the refund if you have children ($400 per child), if you make below a certain threshold. I'm not sure what that threshold is. But it represents the difference between the previous child credit ($600 per) and the new rate, $1000.

Personally, because my little sweetheart isn't born yet, I'll have to wait and claim it in April. But hey, it's not like I haven't already spent it anyway!

The rest will go into an education fund.

Hnymoon@Dixie, basically you will get $400 per child that you claimed a Child credit for on your 2002 tax return, assuming that they haven't turned 17 during the year. You don't need to fill out any forms, the money will be mailed to you automatically.

We are in the last bunch as well. According to the goverment website. They will mail us a letter on the 5th saying we are going to receive the money. And on the 8th they are suppost to mail our check. From what I have heard from other people they say they get there checks on a monday or tuesday after the mailing date.

ps. I am using part of it to pay for our airline tickets. And enough to pay our deposit on our stay at the royal pacific. The rest goes on bills, how boring.
