What are you getting your DOG (or other pet) this Christmas 2013 thread

Our dogs and cats have personalized stockings that we got them in Disney. We usually put some treats and small toys in those, and then get everyone new beds at Kohl's on Black Friday.

My dogs get great treats on a daily basis (its a bribe to get them into their room without a fuss so I can leave for work on time-hey it works), so we don't usually do anything different for Christmas, except cook them special, delicious pet friendly meals.

As for toys, they are Labrador/Pitbull and the only things we find durable enough for them are Kongs and Nylabones, and a rope to tug (but that has to be supervised or the little rascals will eat the darn rope...the proof is in the rainbow poop!). Every so often we had a new one into the rotation, so they will each likely get one of those this year.

Last year, we gave them a dog park-ie we fenced our backyard. most expensive Christmas gift EVER! haha

My Chocolate Lab puppy is named Charlie Brown. Today I ordered him a collar with Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the Charlie Brown Christmas tree on it to wear at Christmas time.:)

We used to buy him sweet potato treats but when I read the bag and realized I just paid $8 for what amounted to one sliced sweet potato, I started making them myself. You literally slice them and cook them on a baking sheet for a few hours. Same thing. So I'll make them more of those.
I've gotten to the point that I barely trust most dog treats out there with all the recalls and the scary jerky deaths (600 dogs have died so far and they can't pinpoint what it is exactly:(). So I am trying to make most of my own and then will package them up for family dogs too with the ingredient list.

We'll also go to the butcher and get a big bone for Christmas morning:). He could probably use a new bed by Christmas. I just line his crate with towels now, but he'll be big enough to take the partition right out of the crate by December so I'll put a bed in.
From 9 pounds to 46 pounds in 12 weeks!!!! They grow so fast!

The biggest butcher bone with meat scrapes on it.

Couple of old stuffed animals so Ellie can destuff them.

Home made peanut butter cookies for dogs in Disney Xmas style

My kids think that we should get him a friend.:rotfl2: I am not sure I want to do what he wants :confused3. So we are taking some time to look into this.

He is very spoiled. He loves the Peanut butter treats and I liked PPs idea of using Christmas cutters. I might try the Sweet potato treats if I can find a recipe.

Target has a soda bottle santa that I will get him if they do not run out. The smaller toys are like water bottle toys but they do not have the water bottlr opening so I think I will skip those.

Both DDs will get at least one toy for him as well.

I plan on getting Bella a new personalized collar, plus various special Christmas treats and a couple of stuffed animals and 1 or 2 new squeaky toys.

LOL,
unfortunately I just spent almost 5,000 bucks getting hobbes the dog cataract surgery.

I swore I would not be one of those people who dumped wads of money on a pet and that's exactly what I am.

He has to wear the "cone of shame" for 3 weeks.

So no doggie Christmas for him. heck at 5K there may not be a big human Christmas!!

Our Great Pyrenees got a step to make it easier to get into the suv. Oh wait - that was for my back :rotfl2:

Lol, really well thank you. He's got his vision back, which I'm thankful for. It was hard watching him bump around off of stuff because he couldn't see.
The pain in the neck part is giving him his eye drops. Needless to say, he hates them

Good idea. My dogs love these sweet potato treats I bought at Costco, but they don't have them anymore. I'll have to try a homemade version.

Yesterday I ordered Doc a Billy Wolfe coat on sale on Gilt. I was thrilled! I hope he will be. :goodvibes

He'll get some toys and bully sticks, too. Hummm.. that sounds like an average day around here!

Our dogs are so spoiled as it is. This year I think they'll each just get one toy, a treat, and their traditional (wet food) Christmas dinner.

Oh, and one of them chewed a big hole through their dog bed, so I guess Santa is bringing a new one for Christmas!

The chickens are getting a new heat lamp and probally some frozen lettuce. The cats: moms get sardines, my aunts get chicken and mine get tuna ( a onece a year treat (im alergic) and a vacation to my moms.) the dog? who knows! the kids buy him all sorts of weird stuff. The guinea pig will be getting a new placemat for bathrooming on, and the fish will get frozen shrimp (again alergic)
