What are you getting your 8 year old son for Christmas?

Mine is getting some of the things already listed, plus he asked for his own alarm clock, a page-a-day Origami calendar (he's always making those little paper footballs or "building" stuff with paper & tape, LOL) and an ATM machine bank that costs around $30 at Toys R Us (that one of my siblings is getting for him)

Oh yeah, and his two front teeth! One is finally coming in, but the other, not so much! :rotfl:

DS8 did his Santa list this morning and it includes:

Star Wars lego set (OT-AT, apparently)
Husky puppy (real, please)
Harry Potter boxed set
Space Rangers lego set
2 Hand Sanitizers

Seriously, he's asking Santa for HAND SANITIZER. And a puppy. Told his sister, 5, that of course Santa can bring live animals, they stay in the "warm part" of the sleigh.

So now she's asking for a German Shepard puppy and a live unicorn. And some more Princess Jewelry.

I think DS8 will probably get what I can find on Black Friday because the grandparents jumped all over that Harry Potter boxed set and the lego sets. I'm left with Hand Sanitizer at this point....

Oh, this is so funny!! I love how 8 year olds are so knowledgeable, but so sweetly innocent...hand sanitizer indeed!

A gift card to Build a Bear could help you with your husky and unicorn problems -- they won't be live, but they will be warm!!! Also Melissa and Doug has a nice husky:

mine turns 8 on friday so I always struggle between the two.

This year he is getting legos- I bought him that one that was on here awhile back for $19.99. other than that he has picked a couple that I need to decide on. OT/AT must be popular with all the boys but its too steep for me to buy..
Sims Agent DS Game
Super Mario Brothers Wii game
Toy Story Wii game
crocs
clothing
Lego Star Wars book
gift card to target so he can pick something out. he keeps saying he would love a gift card.:confused3
G Force DVD
Colts backpack
and Im looking for some capt underpants books.

My son is 8 and also loves Pokemon and mario

My son asked for and getting for christmas
a DSi
a kodak easyshare camera
a bowling ball
the New mario game for Ds
and a few games for his wii

My son will be turning 8 two days after Christmas so we are hit with two major present buying events back to back every year. It's always a challenge to find some surprises that he wasn't expecting. This year he is into Pokemon and Mario. We got him the new Super Mario Wii game he has been asking for over and over. He also asked for the game where your mind turns the fan on and makes the balls move around the course- sorry forgot the name of it! Haven't been able to find that in stock and not sure if would buy it or not as it seems like he will be bored with it very quickly.

Just wondering what others were getting their kids in this age range. I did break down and get him a Pokemon Wii and DS game but I refuse to encourage this anymore. I would really like to find something more educational or not violent/video game related.

Any ideas of what you're kids are asking for or getting?

My DS7 asked for a husky one year too, and we bought him that Melissa & Doug Husky!! He walked out and at first thought it was real, but once he figured out it wasn't, he was still very happy with it, since it is life size.

My middle one is 9 and a couple of things that he is getting that aren't on his or on the above lists (cause they are soooo similar), but that I thought he might like:

A $35 4-man tent - so he and his friends can have a fort in the basement in the winter and in the yard in the summer that we can take up and put down.
A head lamp that has "night vision" red lights as well as regular led lights - DH picked it up at Home Depot for $20

The other thing that he got last year from my DB that has actually seen the MOST use by everyone in the house - a set of real metal tools that came from Home Depot. It has a hammer, wrench, pliers, socket set, screw drivers and measuring tape all in an orange truck shaped tool box. He is soooo proud of that tool set.

My ds turns 8 3 weeks after Christmas - he is getting

Percy Jackson Book Set
Snap Circuits
Lego City Police Station
Lego City Mobile Command Station (from Uncle)
Pictureka
Super Mario Bros.Wii
Microscope with slides
Mythbusters Science Set
Connect 4x4
Qwirkle

For his birthday he is getting a really big Telescope - found a nice one at Costco - has been asking for this for 2 years straight now.

The metal detector I ordered is the Bounty Hunter VLF - I got it at Amazon for $60. I am going to second (double second, etc.) everyone's suggestions about the snap circuits - my son LOVES these!! He's also getting an erector set - it looks like it would be right up his alley. He got a couple of the mythbuster science sets for his birthday and they have been a lot of fun. They each came with several experiments and all of the supplies - he loves them!

My DS8 started his Christmas list tonight. At the top is a Wii. Then is the mindflex game. (His 12 year old sister put that on her list too...wonder if it's worth getting or if it will be one of those toys that gets played with then forgotten?) He had a few DS games and Wii games as well.

All the talk about snap circuits intrigues me...those of you who have them already (or are planning to get them) which set(s) are you getting?

we bought ds last year a metal detector from overstock.com.. that was high on his list of must haves last year.

I looked this one up: Snap Circuits SC-300. Looks like something ds would love. He is always in the garage with dh working and building things while dad works on his 69 camaro. This might be something he would just love.. Might have to only buy one lego set instead of 2 and buy this. Its on amazon for $45.00..

The circuit set we have is from Fat Brain Toys - they have a wide variety. I bought the 300 in 1 set - it was about $55. Well worth the money - he plays with it all the time and is always building new things.

my oldest grandson will be 10 on dec 27 as well...and we don't like to give them video games...they get enough of that from their parents. We are giving him an old-fashioned balance board, a hot wheels stunt track, an Air Hog Zero Gravity car, clothes, books, a gc for more books, a movie...and thanks to you all, this morning I did order a set of the Snap Circuits. I think he'll like those.

:3dglasses

Lego Advent Calendar
Assortment of Nerf guns & swords (CS-35 and CS-6)
Zhu zhu pets
Razor rip rider 360
Smithsonian Childrens Books on various animals
Storybook pillow from QVC (Cars/Spiderman)

I am trying to decide between the Snapcircuits Jr and a RC car (i.e. airhogs or New Bright). They (the cars) all seem to get bad reviews. Has anyone had a positive experience with Air Hogs cars?

We bought the Air Hogs Zero Gravity last year and it was a big hit. It does what it's supposed to, it feels kind of like cheapy plastic, but I suppose it has to be light to "suction" to the walls. The Air Hogs airplanes on the other hand are styrofoam JUNK.

DS8 is getting a Lego remote control car, a DS game, a couple of Wii games, a Lands End bean bag (kids have the junior size and have been asking for the full size), a couple of new books (one book to read and a maze book), and a Pogo stick.

Last year, I gave DS a subscription to the Lego club (ordered it about now so the first miniset came before Christmas and was wrapped under the tree, then he got a new miniset every 2 months for a year). That went over well.

Holy smokes......my 3 kids don't get that many presents combined :-):lmao::lmao:
