my trip this year was financed with Tesco vouchers and selling my daughter's second hand clothes on ebay. I had been saving them up for ages and ended up making £800, sadly ebay banned me from selling any more unless I upgrade to a business seller account.... I only sell once every 2 years or so lol.
I can they ban you if your selling second hand clothing. I thought it would be if you were buying and selling on for a profit??? not sure though..
i bank with LLoyds, they do 'save the change' if you buy anything on your debit card they round it up to the nearest pound and put it in a savings account - i never notice it going but its surprising how it mounts up!
That was exactly my point when I emailed them, I even copied and pasted their definition of a business seller as someone who buys and sells for profit. I told them that as I work as a teacher, I can only list during the summer hols as I don't have time during the working week which is why I listed so much all at once.
They would not back down and said that they have a limit set for private sellers and if you go over the limit, you are flagged up and that there was nothing they could do, that I had to upgrade to a business seller or my sellers account would be suspended. So I told them to go ahead and suspend it, no way was I going to have a business account that might only get used once every one or two years![]()

how much do they charge for a business account?
you know i've never ever been on ebay, but i'm thinking maybe i should sell all our old 'stuff'....
i'm a pack rat as is everyone else in the family....
i have 20 years of 'stuff'.....zillions of stuffed animals and all sort of everything....all good quality....
i wonder if i could sell it...
we've been planning a trip in september, but when i started working the numbers, it's absolutely astronomical...i told the kids i just didn't think we could do it....what with the flights and everything so costly...
but maybe i could do the ebay thing and it would help..
plus get rid of all this clutter as an additional plus...

To be honest, I don't know how much the business account would cost, I wasn't gonna upgrade no matter what lol.
I would definitely sell some of your stuff, in the past I've even sold stuffed animals on ebay that I have won from those grabbing machines.
Its really strange the types of things that sell on ebay... my brother once sold a kind of old wooden branch that used to be in his fish tank,,, I kid you not!
I did not have any idea that my daughter's clothes would sell for so much, I was so excited when I realised that I had made enough to pay our trip off, plus my cupboards and underbed storage boxes are now free of old clothes.![]()
We save £2 and £1 coins (last year we got £430 which paid for a really special anniversary treat for us at Disney), I do online shopping and whatever it tells me I have saved on offers goes in a tin, I draw an extra £10 out of the the ATM when I use it and this goes in the tin, I get a lot of the BOGOF offers which saves me shopping as often hence not having the temptation to spend money, I also do a lot of batch cooking and use the slow cooker which works out really cheap for a meal.
We also put money away each month for things like car expenses, clothes, hair salon etc so that it is affordable when we need it and not a major shock out of one months money.
My DH has just found out he is on a 30 day redundancy notice so I'll be coming up with loads of other ideas too!
