Kerry Greenwood's The Castlemaine Murders.

She is an Australian mystery writer who has two main series: one about Phryne Fisher, and one about Corinna Chapman. The two characters are quite different and the stories are set in different times, but I really enjoy both series and have read almost all the books. I recently bought the first season of the Phryne Fisher TV show and thought it was very well done, too.

I'm re-reading The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I'm on book 4 right now, called 'Summer Knight'. Such a good series of books. I've heard it likened to an adult Harry Potter and can totally understand why.

Just finished reading Mr. Good Enough by Jamie Farrell, a light romance and good summer read. Next up, but not yet started, is a western romance, The Rancher by Hildie McQueen. After that, I'll re-read Outlander to refresh my memory before the show starts.

I was in the mood for a lengthy Victorian novel this summer, so I read Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. Great book with some truly fun and memorable characters. The book is a satire of 19th century English society and social climbing.

Next on my reading list is Huck's Raft: A History of American Childhood by Steven Mintz.

The Book of Life, the 3rd (and final) book in the All Soul's Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. By far the best of the 3 books. will hate to see this series end.

Bouncing back and forth between "The October List" by Jeffrey Deaver and "The Associate" by John Grisham.

I got into Jeffery Deaver when I read "The Broken Window" which absolutely thrilled me!

I need to go look "The Broken Window" up on Goodreads! I have "The October List" on my to-read for the fall.

Ooooh, you just reminded me that her newest is out. I need to read #7 first though... or maybe I should start from the beginning again... it's been 2 years since I finished #6. Yikes!


Currently reading "Rainshadow Road." I just started it, so can't really comment on it as of yet, plus I'm not familiar with the author at all. It's only 240 pages or so, so not like it's a waste of time if it turns out not to be stellar.

I also read the new Diana Gabaldon book this summer and I do wish I had gone back and reread some of the others first. It took me forever because I kept having to google characters to get some backstory on them since it had been so long. The book was great though and prompted me to reread Outlander to get ready for the series on Starz. I have to say I really enjoyed Outlander the second time and picked up on a lot of different things I didn't pay attention to the first time. I also was already in love with the characters after having read the rest of the series and just flew through the book. I plan to reread the rest of the series here and there over the next few years.

I read the newest Deborah Harkness book as well, and once again I wish I had read the second one again to refresh myself but I did really enjoy the book and was sad to have it end.

I also read the new Janet Evanovich book Top Secret 21 and although I thought it might be slightly better than the last 8 or 9 it was still no where near as good as the first ten in the series.

Right now I'm reading the Giver Series and I'm on book 3. They are really easy quick reads but I'm enjoying them. DD wanted to read them and I've been trying to read some of the same books so we can talk about them. I'll probably finish them by tomorrow or Thursday.

Just finished Cover Snow by Jenny Milchman. Excellent book. I read her other book Ruin Falls a few weeks ago.

Another good one is All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner.

Tried to read the Silkworm by JK Rowling but I found it was too hard to get into...

I'm reading House of Leaves because everyone on the internet said it's awesome. Thus far, I've found it annoying. I think it's one of those reads you need several days worth of reading to get into, and with a toddler, I rarely have more than 15 minutes at any one time.

The Dresden Files are awesome. My husband keeps bugging me to read the most recent one so we can talk about it, but you know...stuck on the book of never-ending footnote ramblings.

Just started Orphan Train (audio book). Just finished Mr. Mercedes .. A departure from the traditional King but I enjoyed it.
