What are you CURRENTLY reading?

Yes!
Piper is a real person who wrote a memoir of her time in the prison. I haven't read it so I don't know how much of the show is fabricated(a lot I assume).

The book is very PG compared to the show. Although I haven't finished the book, I would have to say the show is much better. The book is OK, and I probably would have liked it better had I not watched the show.

Today I started
Saints of New York:
by R.J. Ellory (Author)

about 100 pages in and liking it, but I hate the author calling "nail polish", "nail varnish". LOL

It seems to be my summer of re-reading in preparation for a new book in a series. Right now, I'm rereading Deborah Harkness' Shadow of Night so I'll remember what's going on when I start the newest in that series.

Before that I reread Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon and then continued right on with Written in My Own Heart's Blood which was excellent.

In between these, I snuck in Christopher Moore's The Serpent of Venice which was fun--a mashup of The Merchant of Venice and Othello with a dragon thrown in for good measure.

Great thread idea!

I just finished (yesterday) Free to Learn, by Peter Gray. It had some very intriguing ideas about education, and I enjoyed reading it.

Now I have the first of the Outlander series on hold at the library.

Divergent - which is a Kindle library book.

I also purchased Goldfinch to read between library ebooks but this one has been slow going for me, mostly because my library books have been coming in fast and furious.

I just discovered Alex Kava. Currently reading 'Split Second' which is her second book in the Maggie O'Dell series.

I am currently reading Sophie's Choice, and after that I am reading Devil in the White City

Currently reading 2 books right now, How to Get Out of Debt, Stay Out of Debt, and Live Prosperously by Jerrold Mundis and The Fall: Book Two of the Strain Trilogy by Guillermo Del Toro. Highly recommend this trilogy. None of that stupid sparkly vampire crap :lmao:

I have The Strain on my Nook ready to go! Glad to hear you liked it.

It is really good and creepy. It is a tv show too. 3rd episode airs tonight on FX. It is following along with the book. It is my understanding that is was written to be a tv show at first. If you like gore and creepy you would love it.

James Rollings Sigma Force books. I finished "The Judas Strain" and moved on to The Last Oracle. They are government/science/CIA type books (but DARPA, not CIA).

Thanks to Amazon Prime borrowing, I discovered Marcus Sakey's Brilliance Saga, and I'm about 3/4 way through Book 2. It's a science-fiction thriller about a world where there's a small minority of "brilliants". It's a fast-paced easy read, I'm looking forward to when he releases the next installment!

god emperor of dune - frank herbert

I have jury duty this week and I need something to read.

Going through a bag forgotten in the laundry room of books I had picked up at a thrift store last week I discovered a true gem. I definitely had judged the book purely on the cover and plunked down my $3.00

"The Princess and the Hound" by Mette Ivie Harrison 410 pages that I flew through in the past 24 hrs. Very much like a Grimm's Fairy Tale wonderful
