I know that here on the CB we have the yearly reading challenges where we rate/review what we've read.

I would like to start this thread to talk about what we are currently reading or get some more ideas to add to our reading lists.:thumbsup2

I am reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman.

I am really liking it. Some say it's the Harry Potter for "grown ups" but I wouldn't go that far.

Right now, I am currently flip-flopping between Thank You for Your Service (David Finkel) and Resistant (Michael Palmer).

Thank You for Your Service is my mandated summer reading for school, and I already know that I will need to re-read and summarize each chapter. The pace of the book is really slow, and it annoys me when the author mentions a guy from 5-6 chapters ago, and I have to go back and re-familiarize myself with that person before I proceed with the rest of the book.

So far, I am really liking Resistant. I prefer medical thrillers, and the chapter formatting is similar to James Patterson. It's very easy for me to pick up the book, even if it is for five minutes, and still end at the beginning of a new chapter.

Recently finished The Goldfinch and now I'm reading Mr. Mercedes (Stephen King). Loved Goldfinch, and so far King's newest work is really good.

Going to look into Resistant!

Im between Novels, I didnt like my last one, so I gave it a week or so break and being picky with my next one, haven't decided what that will be yet

Just started Orange is the New Black.

I didn't know that was a book. I just finished binge watching season 2 of the series...I LOVE that show!

I just finished a chick lit..Lethal Bond. I really enjoyed it. Now I'm torn between The Goldfinch or The Silkworm

Yes!
Piper is a real person who wrote a memoir of her time in the prison. I haven't read it so I don't know how much of the show is fabricated(a lot I assume).

I'm reading the Divergent series, and just finished the first book.

Bouncing back and forth between "The October List" by Jeffrey Deaver and "The Associate" by John Grisham.

I got into Jeffery Deaver when I read "The Broken Window" which absolutely thrilled me!

A Circle of Wives by Alice LaPlante

First time reading her- very good and fast read ( short chapters)

Just finished up the Infernal Devices trilogy, which are prequels to The Mortal Instruments series (which I also read this summer). They're written for teens but I enjoyed the both series and the world they're set in. It seems like a lot of my light/fiction reading these days is young adult because my DD wants someone to talk books with and her friends just aren't bookworms like her. I don't have a new fiction title/series on deck so I'm happy to see another thread to pull ideas from!

On the non-fiction side I'm currently reading The Feminine Mystique, which somehow I never read in high school or college.

I finally charged my Kindle after not reading a book for like a year. (Horrid I know...I was even an English major in college!).

I just read a Harry Potter book in anticipation of going to visit Diagon Alley in September and I just started The Happiest Toddler on the Block because I'm really not sure how to parent a 12 month old who all of a sudden has a mind of her own!

Written in my Hearts Own Blood-the 8th book in the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. Love these books

Reading A Game of Thrones. Took a break from it for a bit to read The Fault in our Stars
