I am looking for ideas!! :confused3 I know she isn't getting some of the things on her list, like Miss Me Jeans or Uggs. Hello, she hasn't stopped growing! I know I am going to get her a cute make-up bag and maybe a high school hoodie, she will go into 9th grade next year. But, I really can't think of much after that. I am sure I will find plenty on Black Friday. But, I don't just want to by stuff that will just sit untouched.

DD hasn't given me her list yet :rolleyes1

I love your idea of the high school hoodie!

I got DD13 a cute makeup bag so far at Walmart, it even has a mirror in it for $10. Edit - forgot, also got her birthstone earrings at Kohl's with a 30% off so they were about $10 and so pretty. We are also taking her and sis to NYC American Girl for dinner but that's a surprise that they haven't asked for in quite some time so we thought we would do it this year. Will probably get her something else for about $50 so I'm curious about your replies.

My 13yo daughter likes to draw so she'll be getting drawing stuff, and she loves music so an i-tunes gift card I'm sure. Also we try to give "things to do together" presents...so I'll be buying tickets to a musical when I get my 15% off tickets email, even if the actual show isn't until January. Also I can get a good deal on passes to the local Science Museum (which 13yo dd loves) and a cool restaurant that we wouldn't normally splurge for on Groupon or the Tropicana rewards website, then make her a certificate for a day out including those things.

If she likes to read, a Kindle or a Nook would be a great gift for any tween or teen girl. Ask family members to gift Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift cards and she can buy several books to last the year.

Music is always nice - does she have an MP3 player? An iPod is a great gift - and again, family members can gift iTunes cards.

Magazine subscriptions are fun - I don't know what's popular with her age group but the librarian at her school would know.

Traditional books - my daughter always has a stack under the tree!

Makeup - especially from Sephora. If she isn't wearing "real" makeup yet, then specialty skin products like soap or lotion. Body wash, bath gel, scented soaps, etc. Special tools - makeup brushes, eyelash curler, etc. Bath & Body Works is also a great place to find gift sets.

A good quality hair straightener - we swear by the CHI brand. New brushes and combs, or hair accessories.

Tooth whitening strips- my girls used the Crest whitening strips and loved getting them in their stockings.

And I have to add: I know it is hard to spend a significant amount of money on UGGs or special jeans, but honestly I would hate to have deprived myself of seeing the joy on my daughter's face when she got her first pair of UGGs and nice jeans as Christmas gifts. Yes, she outgrew them after a year or so, but I think Christmas is about fulfilling some of those dreams and I wouldn't have missed that for the world. She was so thrilled - that was worth having to buy another pair the next year. Just my opinion...

my daughter wants to sponser an endangered animal. Disney has a cool adopt a sea turtle nest but it looks like you can only buy it at vero beach or at animal kingdom. WWF has a nice package to sponser an animal-so do local zoos

Itunes gift card
movie tickets
clothes - jeans, hoodies, pajama pants, etc.
make-up
jewelry

Dd14's camera broke, so a camera, a new pair of Uggs (she's stopped growing), I always get her flannel jammies from VS (they usually have a sale), and maybe and ipod touch.

I love all your ideas!! I totally forgot she wants a camera!! I think that will be the big gift this year!! We live in Texas so I just can't see the Uggs. I told her to ask everyone for gift cards to Dillard's and we would get them on sale at the end of the season, just buy them a little bigger. She is into make-up so maybe a Sephora GC or maybe I will take her over Christmas for a girls day and have her make=up done for her. Yes, I like that idea. I had thought about the Magazine too. But, like you said not sure which ones are popular and still appropriate. Teeth whitening Stripes are also an excellent idea, she is just so worried about her teeth and always asking about getting them whitened, plus I already bought a Shampoo set she likes for her stocking so that fits right in with the theme this year. She has beautiful hair (lots of body) and likes for me to curl it for her so maybe a really good curling iron. I am so glad I asked for suggestions!! Now my wheels are turning and I am excited!! My DIS friends are the best!!;)

Oh, one more idea, we have a cool town center here that the kids like to hang out at and shop, so I think I will gift her some mini snack GC to Starbucks, and other places they like to stop in at and get goodies.

DSis is not quite 13 this Christmas, but I figured 12.5 is close enough! I got her a Project Runway drawing kit as well as some products to help her design clothes/tees, etc. She loves fashion.

I know that my mom is getting her a lot of books since she has her nose buried in one in most of her free time.

Agreed! For me Christmas is about buying those wishes that I would most likely refuse at other times. Miss Me Jeans are on DD's list. Red Heels and a great dress to match (she's just started to wear heels this year), Samsung Dual screen camera, pearl earrings, and I'm surprising her with tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular (touring) for NYE, cord. TOMS.

I figured that she'd want more Uggs but we're in the sunny SW so she doesn't actually get to wear the two pair that she's gotten the past two Christmases enough to wear them out. Her feet quit growing at about 11.

:thumbsup2 This!!! ITA, it is so worth it! I'm not saying buy these things, plus many other presents, but this is what they really want and most of their friends will have them, at least where I live.

It's hard to buy UGGs for hot weather climates - I have seen the celebrities wearing them in August in the gossip magazines and I will never understand that!! But teen girls are alike the whole country over, it seems - fashion before comfort!! OP, I think the gift card idea is fantastic - she will have the fun of shopping for them herself and that's as much fun as getting them under the tree sometimes. Wrap up a picture of some UGGs from a magazine and put it with the gift cards.

My standard Christmas for my girls (now almost 17 and 22):

The "BIG" present - digital cameras, waterproof digital cameras (for my scuba diving daughter), iPods/iTouches, Nintendo DS, cell phone, laptop, netbook, Kindle - all of these are in the big gift category. Also a GPS for a teen taking driver's ed - one of my best gifts ever - saved me hours of being on the phone with a lost teen!

The slightly less "BIG" gift - cookware for my daughter who is in her own apartment, designer jeans, UGGs, other special clothing or expensive makeup item (hair straighteners, curling irons, hair dryers, etc.)

Makeup - could be a set, could be one item - special moisturizers, etc. Sets from Bath & Body Works.

Books, movies, CDS, board games - always, always a stack of books or an Amazon gift card for Kindle purchases. Always a couple of board games - they still love them! Included here are the SingStar DVD games - they love to get out the microphones and play this when they have friends over - so much fun to hear them try to sing, especially the guys! iTunes gift cards in the stocking once they replaced the CD as the preferred format. DVDs of popular teen movies, or iTunes cards to download them.

Wii games if there is a new one I think they would like. Maybe Epic Mickey this year?

Then lots of little stocking stuffers - candy they get every year, maybe something like a spatula for my older daughter and some new lip gloss for the younger, big bottles of shampoo and conditioner, as well as moisturizer (they have BIG needlepoint stockings that I made years ago and a big bottle of Aveeno moisturizer fills up a LOT of space!)

God, I love Christmas and especially Christmas shopping for my girls! I go way overboard and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I ordered my DD 14 and American Express Pass Card instead of buying various gift cards. It will be her own cash card that has her photo on it. I chose a pink color for her card.

https://www212.americanexpress.com/..._markup_home_forparents&type=intbenefitdetail

There's a great deal going on right now where you purchase the card and load it with at least $25. When you get the card in the mail, activate it and then if you reload $50 on the card before Nov. 30th, American Express will also load $50 on the card. So, you are getting $50 for free! You have to use the code PASS50 when ordering the card, and the person bank account name must be the same person ordering the card in order to get the free $50. The monthly fee of $3.95 is waived until October 1, 2011, so you can just cancel it before that date if you don't want to pay the monthly fee.

My DD wants "a shopping spree for clothes" for Christmas, so her main gift is going to be this card. I'll just keep loading money on it every payday until Christmas. I can add more money to it anytime since it is linked to my bank account. If she loses the card, the money is not lost. I can also log on daily and look at her purchases.

There will be other gifts for her under the tree, but I'm not sure yet what they'll be. Probably make-up, books, and other things she may point out me that she likes while we are out shopping.

I was just looking at Uggs on the internet and Miss Me jeans, because it is what she wants. She knows we aren't spending as much this year, because we just took a trip to the Northeast two weeks ago and that was part of Christmas this year. We all love to travel in this house! Anyway, she was looking over my shoulder and made the comment that was to much for Uggs and that she would be just as happy with an imitation pair. As far as the Miss Me Jeans. I just can't justify them, I know she wants them, but she is in a growth spurt. I just bought her 5 pairs of jeans in Sept and made sure they were a little big, guess what this is just 2 months later and I see they are getting both tight and short. When will she stop growing??? Hello, I am only 5'2" and she is already 5'7" or taller and growing. She seemed to level off at the end of summer, so I thought she was done. I swear she wakes up some mornings and I can see a difference. She is also in select track and we will have to travel a lot starting the first week-end in Jan. through the end of Feb. for her to run the indoor circuit at various colleges, so that is another expense and she understands that. Please keep your fingers crossed she does well so she can go to Nationals in Boston. Now I am getting off topic. I only plan to spend between $150-$200 for her Christmas, so I think I will go with the digital camera, that is also on her must have list too.

I saw another thread that people are now getting emails and that will not be honored, so I would guess they have either ended the promotion or decided it was being used inappropriately and ended it.

I thought it was only for those people who were ordering 3 or 4 cards at a time. They can't advertise a deal for someone ordering it legitimately and then renig after someone has made a purchase. The ones who were doing it dishonestly using fake names and such, won't get the free $50.

OMG, you just gave me the best idea!! :cool1: My bank does a thing for teens where they get a debit card, the catch is you load money onto it and they can only spend that alotted amount. She would think that was cool! Plus I could load money on it when she goes school shopping etc..., because I think next year I am only giving her X number of dollars and letting her budget it.

Wasn't part of the issue that people who didn't get the offer were trying to use it anyway? I don't really know - just making reference to the other thread. I'm sure they will honor the legitimate ones.

My friends 12yo is getting: Makeup (I love eyeslipsandface.com I can get a ton of stuff really cheap), a keyboard, books, and school clothes.

this may sound odd, but my DD13 asked for two American Girl Dolls for Christmas: Felicity and Elizabeth (they're being retired soon). she didn't even like to play with dolls at all until she turned 10, and she LOVES her AG dolls and takes wonderful care of them and their things. DH and i are giving her felicity, my grandmother is giving her elizabeth, and her grandparents will give her 1-2 of each doll's outfits.
she's also getting some clothes from Old Navy and maybe a GC, Toy Story 3 (she loved the movie), a new VB purse, a case for her nintendo DS games and a new DS case, 3 DS games....i'm stuck beyond that. maybe another GC somewhere-to the movies, or maybe American Eagle or Aeropostale. DH and i are also considering buying a Wii...maybe.
