looking for ideas of what to buy for the kids to bring back like a Disney board game or something to remind us of our trip. What did you buy or plan on buying?

We didn't really buy too many souvenirs.
Our girls each got to pick a pearl in Japan and we got a setting for each so they both have necklaces with pearls that they got to pick themselves :)
We got them each a pin at the end of the trip, we kind of count our resort cups as souvenirs ;) , I got a Mickey pancake mold and of course a Disney 2014 photo album.

I saw the board games and kind of balked at the prices, in hindsight I wish I would have sucked it up because it would have been fun to have a Disney themed Monopoly around and they are not cheaper nor are they easy to find outside of Disney. So that just might be one of our souvenirs next trip.
Just depends on your family. I wanted to keep souvenirs to a minimum, afterall we were spending a lot on the vacation alone. I wanted something to remember their first trip by and I think the necklaces will be great for that. Although they don't scream Disney they are certainly something they will have no problem wearing for many years to come.
I also joked about buying myself a tiara, didn't do it, kind of wish I had ;) Hubby asked when I'd ever wear it and he had a good point, but you know what. I'd wear that baby cleaning the house, sometimes we all need to feel like a princess ;)

Princesses dresses... 1 each :) but my girls just love to dress up and I think most of the Disney World dresses at MK are really nice at the shop by the castle. They each have some cash to spend as well. I will store these dresses once they out grow them, so if they ever have kids they can pass them on. We always get 1 pin on each trip, most of the time its themed to the trip, halloween, christmas etc. This year will probably be an Anna/Elsa pin as thats big this year.

Thanks..you are so right about the tiara!!

I plan on getting a Christmas ornament. May also grab some Disney shaped food (like pretzels or crackers) to pack in lunches to bring a little magic home. :)

As for game type items, we bought a really neat Disney puzzle that we can put together as a family and we have dominoes where the dots are Mickey ears. I don't recall either being excessively pricey.

Like everyone else, we always pick up an ornament or two. But something we bought in 2012 still keeps us smiling:

In a number of stores, I think including Mousegears in Epcot , you can find a red silicone muffin pan.

It makes the world's BEST ice cubes!!! They're so big that one cube will keep a glass of soda and its refill both cold!

It costs very little and has us thinking of Disney World all the time!

Ok... you asked :rotfl2:

I always buy a few ornaments (4 or 5) at the Christmas shop at DTD. My tree is all Disney ornament's and family ones.

We normally each get something to wear... jacket to socks.. My DH has several pairs of Mickey dress socks, they are his lucky socks... Me I lean toward PJ pants, or jacket.. this year I might break down and get a purse.. :cheer2:

We always get something for DD and DSIL, Coffee or travel mugs, Disney coffee, but soon in February they will be having there first child.. WOO HOO pixiedust: ( a side note my DD and I are already planning for the baby's first trip, and he or she isn't even born yet... :cool1: Another Disney kid on the way...pixiedust:)

We have Mickey and Minnie collection- A lot of Jim Shore's work, so DH and I will pick out a new one for the collection.

I do pick up some Christmas gifts as well.

Oh and something for the kitchen, I think this year will be measuring spoons or whatever we think at the time.

Picture Frame and Photo Album..

the necklaces for the kids are actually fairly cheap. That was I think the most in-expensive gift we got. she got a necklace and one charm and the charms are like $2 so i am sure she will pick out a new one this year. She wears it to school and while it doesn't scream Disney the little pink jeweled micky head def reminds her of where she got it! Cheaper then The Gap charms!

Magnets - I have a collection, and they make me smile nearly every day when I go to the refrigerator. Also, I purchased some Mickey kitchen accessories back in 1999 during our first trip, and I still use them. Potholders, ice cream scooper, and pizza wheel. Every time I use them, I think of our trips. So, it doesn't have to be a toy, plush or hat to keep the memories alive! :)

Christmas Ornaments. My first visit for my DS, first family visit for all of us. Then a couple I buy on the sly to be sent from Mickey in December.

For my DS, he knows the rule, 1 souvenir per park.

Finally everyone on here who has done the silhouette of the child swears by them, so I'd love to get one to frame.

Oh, that reminds me of something:

In Epcot, at the very end of Imagination, you (of course) end up in a gift shop. Shortly before the exit is the coolest thing:

They'll insert your photograph into a picture. The one we got has Mickey "painting" our photo onto a canvass on an easel.

It took practically no time, and was a really cool momento!

I want to do Pick A Pearl and shop at the new home goods store. My youngest wants a puppet from WS (older kids got them on our last trip). Aside from those I'll just see what strikes my fancy. I bought myself the Epcot Alex and Ani bracelet as a "pre-souvenir" in case I couldn't find it when we were there.

Each trip we get a picture to hang in my sons room. This past January was our first trip for our daughter and we have started the same tradition. We also got a figurine for her, and kinda want to do that each time too. We'll see. There's only so much wall space and we have 4 for his room already, he's only 6! May need to find something else.

I buy the craziest thing: Potholders!!:rotfl:
I bought these for several years, I try to look for unique ones from all four of the parks and have enjoyed using these everyday, several have worn out and we will be going next month and i will be on the hunt for unique potholders.

I don't think kids would like potholders but what my DS loved as a souviener was Pressed pennies. He has filled up 2 books of them and we still like to look at them.

I love the silhouettes, and you get 3 copies automatically, so they make great grandparent gifts as well.
