I’m glad you clarified that because 20k vacations are a long way from frugal.

That really depends on the perspective. It’s ok to be very frugal on the one hand, and frivolous on the other. It’s not mutually exclusive and it’s all about where you place value on your time and on your money, and spending it where it makes you happy!

I’ve been on hold 45 mins with DCL, maybe y’all can help me as I’m about to give up.

I booked the inaugural 7 day cruise on Monday. I’m only CC silver (other membership allowed me to book early) and out of interest I wanted to see what was left. I’m logged in, but it still shows “coming soon” for me.

What am I doing wrong? Or is my account not linked? And if so, how do I fix that? When I look at my profile I see my various memberships, but nothing for CC. Followed google links and still can’t find a way to see my CC status.

I don’t remember how I got my account linked. My travel agent when we booked the wish had to get my CC membership number from Disney as I had only sailed on dcl once before that back in 2001 as a child. I think Disney linked it to my account.

There’s still a scattering of various types of verandahs available.

It's all relative to your income. If you are taking vacations like that you're not really suffering to make it happen. You just choose to spend your large amount of disposable income on traveling.

We just booked the 10 night Southern Caribbean category 4e. Yay! Never been on that long of a cruise and have always wanted to do a more Southern iterinary. That placeholder we bought 3 weeks ago came in handy!

Thank you! I’ll wait for the rush to die down and then sort it out. I dropped the call in the end. I *think* we got what we wanted on Monday so it’s not a necessity, I was more curious than anything. We got deck 9, port side, mid ship family deluxe verandah. I was going to see if anything on the starboard side opened up, but I’m wondering if LP will be port anyway? The maps sort of indicate that to be the case

I think for a lot of the folks sailing these inaugural cruises, they are essentially like collectors items. A limited edition baseball card or stamp or pair of sneakers might look and feel a lot like any other other baseball card or stamp or pair of sneakers but people pay astronomically more for the limited edition ones to augment their collection. So I think what is missing when you try to compare inaugural prices to other cruises (whether on other cruise lines or even other DCL cruises) is that extra factor of being able to say “I was on the maiden/inaugural.” Not my cup of tea but neither are postage stamps.

You also have to factor all the vloggers who write it off as a business expense.

I am big into collectibles and assets that hold their value or go up. I'm not sure any inaugural cruise swag would fit into that category.

If I was a TA or vlogger that could write it off I would be more tempted. I would rather sit back and see the reviews.

I can't see overspending for a cruise just to say you were the first one on the ship. In my real life, I only know two people that have been on a Disney cruise and I have a job where I come in contact with a lot of people. I just don't know who I would brag to that would actually care.

We are booking the 6/17/24 Alaska Cruise! Two adjoining Family Ocean View Staterooms for a total of 5 people. (Mom, Dad, Kiddo, FIL and BIL). We are very excited!

I have the same problem. Waiting till the rush is over for booking then will get back in contact with disney. My TA was still able to book me yesterday so that's the main thing.

I could be wrong, but I believe there was a lot on the inaugural cruise of the Wish. I would do a google search on the Wish Inaugraul threads. You should find plenty of reviews.

I was on the Wish maiden and honestly did not see a fraction of the amount I would have thought. I assume the really in your face ones were all on the media cruise prior to ours. There were people taking movies and pics but heck so was I and it was all for personal use. It felt like any other cruise in that regard.

Actually, the DISboards are a form of social media, too.

I think many bloggers etc. will be on the preview cruise. They might even do that cruise as a part media cruise. So many should have been cleared out of the system by then. I am sure there are some, but it won’t be masses in my opinion.

that 12 night Norway/Iceland cruise looked so tempting! $23,000 USD for 5 of us in one room or $26,000 in separate staterooms. Ouch!
