Wow, it seems like A LOT of people in the midwest and out east have off for the blizzard that went on for the past couple of days!

So what are you doing to keep busy until some of this mess melts?

I've been watching a lot of Family Guy on Netflix, and gathering some good recipes to try out over the weekend from the Food Network!

Well, just dug out half my driveway till a very nice neighbor came over with a tractor to finish it.....now we are trying to keep the kids entertained so I don't throw them out in a drift. I've considered working on my taxes or playing Xbox.....I have a feeling the Xbox will win out on this one. Of course I'm checking out things on the Dis. Hoping life will get back to normal tomorrow!

New York City had 1/2 inch of ice, streets somewhat plowed and slushy, sidewalks (30 - 40 yards at a clip SOLID ICE SHEETS. :scared1:

NO SNOW DAY ISSUED! (Only 9 in the past 33 years)

NO DELAYED OPENING! :sad2:

New York City Schools were open. :woohoo:

I cannot tell you how many kids arrived late after countless tales of how they fell. :sad1:

Many teachers who have a commute could not make it in and had to take a personal day. :teacher:

I've been shoveling the roof of the garage so the snow and ice doesn't destroy the cars.

Enough is enough.

DD is working on her homework. DH is watching Groundhog Day on Encore, which seems very fitting for the weather today. I finished our taxes, and now I really need to study for an upcoming test. I have a feeling that a nap is going to win over the studying, though! ;)

After our Blizzard last night, our front door and garage door are blocked by 4+ foot drifts! And the only advantage to living in my townhouse is having someone else dig us out of this! So, needless to say, our schools are closed today.... and tomorrow.
What we are doing today is: DS is making snow forts and a snowman. DD is sick, so she is doing alot of web-surfing and watching Weather Channel.
Me, I am making lots of chicken soup and catching up on some sewing. Oh, and continually daydreaming of Disney this summer.

We started the day with French Toast after DH finally made it home from his commute after a midnight shift. I had brought a ton of work home of which I made a dent...not sure if I was thinking we'd be out for days or what! I'll have to lug it back to work with me when we go back to reality; it was sure a nice change of pace working in my pajamas all day. DS was really happy to have a day off from school and started lobbying for tomorrow off at about 8:05 a.m.!

I'm a nurse and just made it home from working at the hospital. We had to spend the night there last night. Still dangerous driving and have to go back in the morning. But you sure don't get much rest at the hospital. Some people have been there for 2 nights and are staying for another night. Thanks to all the dedicated hospital workers, police , fireman, and paramedics for risking their safety to save lives.

Not only did I have to work today, I had to talk my boss into not making me stay late to finish something "urgent". I swear if they could find those electronic ankle bracelets for free they would put them on us.

I guess we were fortunate and it went to the west of us. They were talking 14 to 18 inches and we didn't even come close. We did get 6 inches and the high winds but I drove home in it and by the time level 3 (no one can drive except emergency people) was lifted it was time to go into work. So nope no snow days for me. My son got 2 days of school off and my wife missed 2 days of work. She drives 35 miles to work 1 way so they told her to stay home. So no snow days for me.
