What are tipping guidelines for deliveries

DH asked me to post this. We are having furniture delivered from North Carolina tomorrow. It is 3 bedroom pieces. What do you think we shoud do as far as tipping the delivery men?

I've never tipped delivery men except for food. I really don't think it's a common practice. When my husband was in the Airforce we were moved three times in four years. My husband asked one of the movers about tipping and he laughed and said do I look like a waitress? Ever since then I've never even thought about it. I suppose they'd take one and be grateful for it, but I don't believe it's neccessary.

I don't think it's necessary either. I'm sure that those men make at least minimum wage and probably more. I would offer them a drink if they looked hot or thirsty. We seem to always end up with the first delivery of the day, so they're not tired or worn out at all yet.

I always tip as long as they are careful & don't scuff the walls. We got a bedroom set 3 years ago & they had to lug 5 pieces of furniture up the stairs. 2 of the pieces were MASSIVE! They were very careful & pleasent. There were two of them so I gave them a 20.00 bill & asked them to split it.

A few months ago I got a livingroom set... (2 couches, and 4 tables) All of the items were small & light. They were in & out in about 15 min. I gave each of them a five.

To each is own I guess, but if they do good work & they can't be making all that much, giving a tip for good service makes me feel good!
