They are discount codes for rooms. Go to www.mousesavers.com and look under Resorts. Sometimes Disney special offers (and often AP rates) are better deals, but do the math and you may save some money.

I called and used a room only code of BAT for the Wilderness Lodge in November. My rate was $147.18 for one night, woods view, tax included.

People who have annual passes (AP's) are often offered discounted rooms at Disney, up to 40% off rack rate. There will be a three-letter code issued by Disney for annual passholders to use when they make a reservation. At other times, Disney will issue a three-letter code available to anyone for substantially reduced rates. These are the codes you are referring to.
