What are the "pacing" requirements

Lets face it I love Disney and I love running so I thinking about doing a trip to the World just to do the Dopey.

With that said I see it says for all who finish with in "pacing" requirements. Well like I said I am a runner and a 5k is well a training run. My wife is not a runner and neither are my kids and I know this would be a great "run" for the family.

Now I don't want to sound rude/ungrateful but if the Dopey hinges on completing within these requirements I want to make sure we do that.

So my question is what are the Pacing requirements as I cannot find them?

To me I would assume its pretty much finish it and you are golden but I'd like to know for certain.

Published times are a 16 min pace.

There is a small bit of room for early corrals to go slower.

As mentioned above, the pace requirement is 16 minute mile or 3.8 miles per hour. Disney starts the sweepers at the very end of the pack. The sweepers travel at a 16 minute mile pace and carry balloons. Get passed by the balloon ladies and you are at risk of being removed for failing to hold the pace. Disney is rather strict about this. Click HERE for a link to a story about the Balloon Ladies from the Wall Street Journal.

I don't think Disney sweeps the 5k. I could be wrong. They market it as a Family Fun Run. I've only done one Disney 5K.

Disney does not sweep at the 5k

They have golf carts and may give you a "boost" but it is up to you how much you use them.

If you want to walk across the finish line and get your medal, at the 5k, no problem

Not 100% sure I like the guys tone of voice, (especially this "finishing a course requires little more than a brisk walk" sure, on the basis that's right, but keeping that pace up for 6, 13 or 26 miles isnt quite as easy as that IMO) but it's pretty much right. What I understand the balloon ladies also do (and I didnt think they were 'official' in any way or has that changed? They were just the last people that cross the start line and do a 16mm pace) was they will stop just before the start line and adjust their costumes, tie their shoes, basically kill a minute or 2 to give as much of a head start as possible.
