What are the odds (other than slim and none0

ok so only fellow disboarders can appreciate how much I miss Disney since we arrived home just two weeks ago -- our trip (just DH and myself) was a 5 night stay at BWV -- had a wonderful time -- our kids are all older (young adult age) so although we take them as one big group every other year we have no guilt about childless vacations (we feel we've earned it after years of raising all 4) Here's my dilema-- We have annual passes set to expire next week -on the 25th of July and I think I have my husband convinced to return for a midweek 3 night stay but only if I can get a BWV or BCV (he doesn't want SS which is the only studio that I think may be available at such short notice) I mean once the park tickets are paid for and you have points available the only expense is airfare (which I found really cheap right now) and food (which I promised my husband I would do reasonably - our trip two weeks ago was on the DXDP so we are 5 lbs. heavier already) My question finally is "Is there any chance with one week notice I can get a studio at BWV or BCV?

I'd say the odds are slim, not none. Worth calling to check.

However, I think you have better odds changing your husband's mind

I wouldn't say that your odds are slim to none. I wouldn't be surprised if you called MS tomorrow morning and something was available. The unknown is how many rooms at BWV are out of service due to the rehab.

I was at BWV last month and decided to extend my trip an extra day. I called one day in advance and was able to get a studio.

Good Luck!

I just did the exact thing you are planning at the beginning of May...Called 9 days prior to when I wanted to go. I was willing to take whatever Member Services had available even if it meant moving (which of course I Really didn't want to do but beggars cannot be choosers). I got one night at AKV in a value studio and then 2 nights at BW in a pool view studio. I waitlisted for the 1st night and once I got it in my head that we were going to love the stay at AKV I almost called and cancelled the wait list....thinking why bother, it will never happen at this late date. Well, the wait list came thru, we did not have to move and we got the best studio I have stayed in at BW, it was in a corner overlooking the main pool and was bigger than a regular studio(no not a handicapped either).
I really think the key is your willingness to truly accept whatever room you get and LOVE it!I had always wanted to do a spontaneous trip like this and it worked out wonderfully...Good Luck to you!!

So I totally talked my husband into it (I even convince him that SS is better than no Disney) and we call first thing this morning -- what we find out is not only is there no BCV or BWV available - there are no DVC studio rooms anywhere --not SS, not AKL , not OKW , nothing!! (We were looking at Wed. thru Sat. and the only night they have an opening is for Friday.) I am so disappointed -- the CM was very helpful and tried everything but he told me to keep trying back because unfortunately, unforseen circumstances can arise that force families to have vacations cancelled at the last minute. So I'm not wishing any other family any bad luck but I will keep calling back (probably twice a day). It seems that once you have the Disney but you can't shake it.

Is there any one night stays available and then switch to another? We had to do that one time. 3 nights, 3 resorts.

No, I would be willing to switch (it's just me and my husband -3 nts.- only carryon luggage) but nothing avaiable for Wed or Thurs night anywhere

Do you have enough points for a 1 Bedroom stay? Those can be a little easier to get than studios

Great Suggestion!:thumbsup2

Call back in the late afternoon also. Availability is always changing every second.
Last month we stayed at BCV after our cruise. We missed our nephew's flight on Sunday morning and had to stay an extra day. I called MS almost every hour trying to get a room for the night anywhere! Once we had a 2 bed at SSR pop up but it disappeared just as quick. Finally around 3pm, a 1 bed at VWL popped up and I grabbed it!!

This is a same day booking, but gives you an idea how quickly DVC can go from completely sold out to rooms becoming available. I would take the cheap air fare and keep trying.
There's some really good deals at Holiday Inn on the Resorts board that you could book as a backup plan with liberal same day cancellations.

I just decided to go for my birthday yesterday because of the cheap fares($120RT!!). I called MS and was able to book 2 nights at AKV -Value studio and 2 nights SSR Studio over Thanksgiving weekend!!:cool1:

So now I have 3 trips lined up October, November, and December:rotfl:

One small issue...

That Holiday Inn doesn't re-open until November!;)

(If then)

I do agree that 1 bedrooms are easier. I often "waste" the points!

Keep trying. You might catch something opening up. I grabbed a night at AKV for my brother-in-law tomorrow night (had some points in a holding account because a girlfriend at work's reservation had to be cancelled due to emergency cancer surgery).

With those cancelled holding points, I was able to grab a couple of nights for my daughter at SSR for the end of July into August. The first time I called the Sunday night disappeared before Member Services could grab it. So I called back today and they were able to grab Sunday night for me. I decided to go on a waitlist for one more night. I figured with the size of SSR, I might have a chance for one more night to come open.

I was really surprised that SSR didn't have availability but for just a few nights. Wow. It will probably be packed.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - we have been calling twice a day and will keep calling up until the end (or until the reasonable airfare is gone) -- btw , no 1 bedrooms either, I'll keep you posted

Check the "Rent/Trade" board and see if anyone is renting their reservation for next week. Ya never know! :goodvibes

Ok so we were resolved to giving up the whole idea of just one more short trip before our APs expired but when we called today (I guess we weren't really that resolved) we were able to book one night in a studio at AKL and the next 2 nights at SS. As I mentioned originally SS isn't our favorite but hey -- at least it's Disney. Since it's just me and DH we were fine with moving after a day but the story gets better. DH called back with our flight info for ME and guess what? In just that 20 min. or so there were all 3 nights available at AKL (Jambo- savannah view) so we don't even have to move. We're also kind of excited becase AKL is new to us-- thank for the good wishes everyone!

I am sooo happy for you!!! Enjoy every moment!!
