What are the odd of getting the DDE discount after the fact

Here's my situation. I made a reservation for CRT and asked for the DDE discount. The CM said he was having a problem applying the discount and put me on hold while he called CRT to work it out. He comes back and says, he couldn't apply the discount, but he was sure that the other CM's could. Not to worry everything will be fine. I confirmed the discounted price with him, okay'd that charge to my card and hung up. Well, I've looked at my credit card statement and see that I was NOT given the DDE discount. I call today and talk to a CM who talks to her supervisor and they both tell me that they were able to note the DDE discount on the reservation, but that it's a "done deal". There is nothing they can do about the reservation and I will have to settle things at dinner. So here's my question:

What are the odds that I will get a refund of the discounted amount when I arrive? She said I should bring the credit card used, my DDE card and the reservation number.:confused3

should be good. heck, you should be able to get it now.

i booked CRT initially and forgot that i'd have the DDE, so i called back and they credited me no problem.

but if you have to wait until the restaurant, it shouldn't be an issue either.

you know what, forget what i said... they told me they were crediting me the DDE portion but I don't see it on my statement. i only see a charge of $174 for 3 adults, 1 child.

I might be mistaken, but I'm about 90% sure that CRT accepts NO discounts whatsoever. Including DDE. The reservations people may or may not realize/know this depending on how long they have been there.

If you have not dined at the restaurant, I would be surprised if they could give you a DDE discount. They will most likely need your DDE card to do that I would think.
I would make sure they do that at the restaurant though.

Once we took a behind the scenes tour and I was billed in error for the full amount, when I should have be given an AP discount. I FIANLLY got that discount credited back, but had to speak to several CMs, since each passed me down the line to someone else. The tour guide flat out ignored and avoided me. Finally Guest Services had me call someone on their house phone who did credit the AP discount.

Buffalo Gal could be right. I have gotten a DDE discount at CRT. But that was pre-princess dinner meals.

well, CRT is listed on the sheet of DDE restaurants I got when I received my card a week and a half ago.

because of the changes in Feb 2006, the way DDE is impacted is you only get the discount on the food portion of the total. the photo package et al is valued at ~$30, so the DDE discount comes out of total - $30.

as far as being unable to get the discount without the DDE card to show physically, perhaps, but you'd think they'd know that before they did the math and reportedly put in the discount.

as it is, you can book AP room rates without having the AP, you can get AP discounts on tours over the phone without proving you own an AP. and in this case, if you say you're on the DDP, they don't charge you at time of booking. so disney has a history of allowing you to do obtain certain discounts without direct proof.

I agree with Luv2Roam, it may be that they won't give the credit until they actually see the card and can verify for sure you have a DDE card. I have defintely used a DDE card at CRT. But that was at dinner back when you didn't have to pre pay. As soon as you sit down at your table, I would ask the server how they go about this and would not leave that place until you get your credit! Ask for a manager, the way they want to turn tables they will likely fix it very quickly for you!

You might also call back to Disney Dining and see if a different cm knows a bit more. Different cms have different knowledge and experience. It may take a few tries to get one that really knows about this issue. Good luck!

As far as I am aware the DDE card is actually swiped through a machine. (Could be wrong as I have never personally seen how it is handled at the register.) I know managers do all the time or some of the times have to approve the discount too. The only suspicion I have on this is the times I have had treated those with me to the discount for their meal, and sometimes tried for separate checks. (A rare feat indeed now-a-days.)

You are right about the manager's approval. This happend to me at the pool bar at SSR, I couldn't get my DDE discount since there was no manager available to approve it. I was told to go over the front desk but forgot, it was fine it was just for a couple of drinks. But that would indicate they need approval to give this particular discount.

We ate there in February and when we booked we were charged the full amount, I did mention the card though at that time. Anyway, when we arrived we had an additional person (my grown neice decided to join us on vacation and was just going to go on rides if she couldn't get in to this meal.) Anyway, we had to pay for her at the end of the mal and I just handed them the DDE card. They took the discount off the entire meal at that time, and so her meal ended up costing somewhere around $10.00!!

I think I feel better now. The discount would amount to about $40, so I definitely don't want to pass it up if I don't have too.

bradk is correct you can get the discount on the food portion of the total. There is no discount on the photo portion. In April there were 6 of us 4 adults and 2 kids. We picked up our DDE templorary card the night we arrived. When we ate at CRT we told our server we had DDE and was able to get the discount at that time. They couldn't refund the credit card or give back cash but they did give us a gift card for the refund amount. The refund came to $27.25 for the six of us. It was better than nothing.
